Rise in violence 'linked to climate change'...sure it is

No doubt you have read Chicago's rise in crime is directly linked to climate change.
But now it has spread worldwide.

The first rise in violence occurred when Cain killed Able. I can see the good Lord now sitting on a cloud scratching his head...got to do something about this climate change.

This story below, and I do mean story could have served Barry quite well.

Reporter: What happened in Benghazi?
Barry: It was the result of a video

vs

Reporter: What happened in Benghazi?
Barry: It was violence linked to climate change

One is about as plausible as the other.

National Weather Service meteorologist Gary Conte:

It felt like the first day of fall, the kind of day for which the word "lovely" was made, the clear, autumnal sky at once flat and deep, stretched taut over the city.

At 7 am, the temperature was 67 degrees. At 8 am, it was 70. By 9 am, it had risen to 73. But by then, no one was thinking about the weather.

The researchers looked at 60 studies from around the world, with data spanning hundreds of years.

OK... they want to conflate violence with climate change siting "60 studies" that "span hundreds of years".

How in the hell do you do that without once mentioning the words Islam or Muslim?

Rise in violence 'linked to climate change'

2 August 2013 Last updated at 03:18 ET By Rebecca Morelle Science reporter, BBC World Service

The researchers believe that war and personal conflicts are links to shifts in climate

Shifts in climate are strongly linked to increases in violence around the world, a study suggests.

US scientists found that even small changes in temperature or rainfall correlated with a rise in assaults, rapes and murders, as well as group conflicts and war.

The team says with the current projected levels of climate change, the world is likely to become a more violent place.

The study is published in Science.

Marshall Burke, from the University of California, Berkeley, said: "This is a relationship we observe across time and across all major continents around the world. The relationship we find between these climate variables and conflict outcomes are often very large."

The researchers looked at 60 studies from around the world, with data spanning hundreds of years.

They report a "substantial" correlation between climate and conflict.

Their examples include an increase in domestic violence in India during recent droughts, and a spike in assaults, rapes and murders during heatwaves in the US.

The report also suggests rising temperatures correlated with larger conflicts, including ethnic clashes in Europe and civil wars in Africa.

Biological root?

Mr Burke said: "We want to be careful, you don't want to attribute any single event to climate in particular, but there are some really interesting results."

The researchers say they are now trying to understand why this causal relationship exists.

"The literature offers a couple of different hints," explained Mr Burke.

"One of the main mechanisms that seems to be at play is changes in economic conditions. We know that climate affects economic conditions around the world, particularly agrarian parts of the world.

"There is lots of evidence that changes in economic conditions affect people's decisions about whether or not to join a rebellion, for example."

But he said there could also be a physiological basis, because some studies suggest that heat causes people to be prone to aggression.

"It is a major priority for future research to distinguish between what is going on in each particular situation."

The scientists say that with the current projected levels of climate change the world is likely to become a more violent place.

They estimate that a 2C (3.6F) rise in global temperature could see personal crimes increase by about 15%, and group conflicts rise by more than 50% in some regions.

Commenting on the research, Dr Stephan Harrison from the University of Exeter said it was a "timely study".

"What they have found is entirely plausible... For example, we already know that hotter and drier weather causes an increase in urban violence. Likewise, during cooler and wetter weather people tend to stay indoors, and the threat diminishes."

However, other researchers have questioned whether climate breeds conflict.

Work published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences suggested that this environmental factor was not to blame for civil war in Africa.

Instead, Dr Halvard Buhaug, from the Peace Research Institute Oslo, Norway, concluded that the conflict was linked to other factors such as high infant mortality, proximity to international borders and high local population density.

Commenting on the latest research, he said: "I disagree with the sweeping conclusion (the authors) draw and believe that their strong statement about a general causal link between climate and conflict is unwarranted by the empirical analysis that they provide.

"I was surprised to see not a single reference to a real-world conflict that plausibly would not have occurred in the absence of observed climatic extremes. If the authors wish to claim a strong causal link, providing some form of case validation is critical."

NAACP: In the world of politics you better learn how to suck it up

Source: Breitbart

On Tuesday, the Missouri State National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) issued a statement asking for federal involvement in the case of a rodeo clown who wore an Obama mask and then asked the crowd if they'd like to see Obama run down by a bull. "The activities at the Missouri State Fair targeting and inciting violence against our President are serious and warrant a full review by both the Secret Service and the Justice Department," said State President Mary Ratliff. "Incidents involving individuals acting out with extreme violent behavior in movie theaters, schools, churches, political appearances, and outdoor events in general speaks volume to the irresponsible behavior of all the parties involved with the incendiary events at the Missouri State Fair."

In this 21 second video the NAACP  would go in to convulsions if  Barry was substituted for Bush. Get a grip... grow a spine... you whining Sharptons!

Conservatives eat this stuff for breakfast!

Barry and Oprah are a bigger threat to the NAACP than this clown. It's beginning to sink in, the need for there existence,  and they don't like it.
They're grasping at straws, because without racism, they're out of business.

Ratliff went on to condemn the state's funding of the State Fair: "our Legislature has failed to support Medicare Expansion in Missouri, has consistently attempted to dismantle our Human Rights Commission, fail to adequately fund urban schools -- (who) are predominately African American -- yet they are subsidizing the Missouri State Fair to the tune of $400,000; we are calling for the subsidy to stop...[Governor Nixon's] planned Pancake Breakfast for Thursday should be his 'Last Supper' at the Missouri State Fair in response to the racially intolerant attacks on his Commander in Chief."

California Gov. Brown signs transgender-student bill

Before

After

California Gov. Jerry Brown signed a controversial bill into law Monday afternoon allowing the state's transgender public school students to choose which bathrooms they use and whether they participate in boy or girl sports.

The law would cover the state's 6.2 million elementary and high school kids in public schools.

Supporters say the law will help cut down on bullying against transgender students, The families of transgender students have been waging local battles with school districts around the country over what restrooms and locker rooms their children can use.

"Now, every transgender student in California will be able to get up in the morning knowing that when they go to school as their authentic self they will have the same fair chance at success as their classmates," Masen Davis, Executive Director of Transgender Law Center said.

While California is the first state to pass a law of this magnitude, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Washington and Colorado have all adopted policies designed to protect transgendered pupils.

Not everyone is on board.

Opponents of the bill say allowing students of one gender to use facilities intended for the other could invade the other students' privacy.

Randy Thomasson, of savecalifornia.com, says the law would "damage" kids.

"This radical bill warps the gender expectations of children by forcing all California public schools to permit biological boys in girls restrooms, showers, clubs and on girls sports teams and biological girls in boys restrooms, showers, clubs and sports teams," Thomasson said. "This is insanity."

The California bill, which was backed by a coalition of organizations including Transgender Law Center, Gay-Straight Alliance Network, Gender Spectrum, Equality California, ACLU of California, National Center for Lesbian Rights and statewide teacher and parent organizations.

Barry sets the tone.. FORE... "phony sequestration"

After two back to back vacations costing millions...

He has the balls to say this?

Obama warns disabled veterans prolonged sequester could put their benefits in jeopardy

During these "desperate times" there always seems to be enough money for Barry. Extravagance is no stranger to him and his brood.
The dog actually flew privately to Marth's Vineyard on a MV-22 Osprey aircraft!

Barry tried to pull this same crap before during the government shut down. The first thing out of his mouth was, "I can't guarantee you those social security checks are going to go out."

So the first checks to go (according to him) are what people worked hard for, not the welfare checks to the freeloading bums who just sit on their ass and collect for doing nothing from one generation to the next.

We'll see how that works out.

Saturday, Aug.10, 2013: President Obama speaks to injured veterans and guests at the Disabled American Veterans National Convention in Orlando, Fla. (AP)

President Obama took his case for ending the sequester to hundreds of disabled veterans Saturday, saying he protected their benefits from the "reckless" cuts to the federal budget but suggesting next year might be different.

"It's hurting our military. I made it clear that your veteran's benefits are exempt from this year's sequester," the president said to the applause of hundreds at the Disabled American Veterans' convention in Orlando, Fla. "But I want to tell you going forward the best way to protect the VA care you have earned is to get rid of this sequester altogether."

The president but the blame squarely on Congress, which returns in about four weeks to work on a new federal budget and increasing the federal debt limit.

"We've got these reckless, across-the-board budget cuts called the sequester that are hitting a lot of folks hard," Obama said. "Congress needs to come together and agree on a responsible plan that reduces our deficit and keeps our promises to our veterans and keeps our promises to future generations."

The cuts went into effect in March after Congress and the White House failed to agree on a more balanced plan to cut government spending.

Some Republicans have meanwhile said the president shares in the responsibility, considering he signed the 2011 Budget Control Act that raised the debt ceiling and led to sequester.

The president also told the veterans the government is making progress in reducing the backlog of disability claims but acknowledged the slow pace.

"It hasn't gone as fast as I've wanted," he said.

The staggering backlog of disability claims for compensation for illness and injury caused by military service has been a main concern for veterans.

The number of claims waiting to be processed ballooned under Obama, largely because the administration made it easier for Vietnam veterans who were exposed to the Agent Orange defoliant to get benefits.

The backlog recently has begun to shrink due to steps by the Department of Veterans Affairs, including requiring claims processors to work overtime and transitioning to a new computer system to help speed the judgment of claims. About 780,000 claims are pending. Currently, about 500,000 are considered backlogged, down from about 611,000 in March.

A claim is deemed backlogged if it has been in the system for 125 days, or roughly four months.

Cutting the backlog was part of a five-point plan the president unveiled that also included better health care for veterans and more funding for prosthetics for disabled veterans.

The president also discussed research into traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder and suicide among veterans and troops, as well as efforts to help veterans earn college degrees or get the credentials needed to compete for high-skilled jobs.

Beyond the backlogged claims, Republican lawmakers have begun to hammer the department on the issue of patient safety. A congressional hearing in Atlanta this past week focused on poor patient care linked to four deaths. Another hearing is scheduled for next month in Pittsburgh, where five veterans died as a result of a Legionnaire's disease outbreak in 2011-12.

Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Fla., chairman of the House Veterans' Affairs Committee, said he hoped Obama would use his appearance at the convention to make a personal commitment to solving both issues.

I appreciate the bind he's in.

When you look like this your options are limited.

Update:

Filner miraculously "cured" in the first week of a 2 week intensive therapy program. Meanwhile, the 14th woman has just come forward sharing her experiences with Filner's sexual advances.

She said she would have come forth sooner but the line was too long.
