Failing The Smell Test

Andrew Young--- Father or Fall Guy--or willing participant?

Andrew Young, the man claiming to be the father of John Edwards' mistress' 5-month-old baby, has remained mum since the former senator admitted to an affair with Rielle Hunter but denied paternity of the child.

In sticking to his claim that he's the father, those close to the scandal say that Young is being used as a fall guy by Edwards and is not the baby's father.

A former well-placed campaign worker, who had inside knowledge of the relationship with Edwards during the time the videographer worked for the campaign, told FOXNews.com in an email: "There was no relationship between her and Andrew Young."

Frances Quinn Hunter, called Quinn, was born on Feb. 27, 2008, and no father was listed on the child's birth certificate.

In December, when the National Enquirer reported that a then-pregnant Hunter was having an affair with Edwards, Young released a statement through his attorney Pamela Marple claiming he was the father. "Senator Edwards knew nothing about the relationship between these former co-workers, which began when they worked together in 2006."

When recently contacted by FOXNews.com Marple refused to comment further.

But questions continue to swirl about who is the real father.

Edwards said he was "happy to take a paternity test", but Hunter, speaking through her attorney, said she refuses to agree to a genetic test "now or in the future."

In other words...I'll agree to a paternity test to make me look good. Then you refuse to be tested.

Others close to the affair say they also have reason to suspect that Edwards somehow convinced Young to claim paternity of Quinn.

Pigeon O'Brien, a former friend of Hunter's who was in close contact with the videographer during the time of the affair, said that Edwards isn't coming clean with all the details and believes the ex-senator is the father.

"I can't think that there is another possible explanation, knowing the way I know Rielle," she told FOXNews.com.

Young's career with the once promising presidential candidate began back in 1998 when Edwards first ran for the U.S. Senate. He continued on when Edwards began his bid for president, and worked as his North Carolina finance director.

A former campaign aide, speaking on condition of anonymity said Young was a close aide to Edwards, but not a central figure to the campaign.

"He was an Edwards loyalist — an aide to the family more than he was a campaign professional, the aide said. "He was more of an Edwards buddy and personal aide than anything else."

Young was said to work long hours traveling around North Carolina raising money, organizing fundraisers and planning telethons from his office at the campaign's Chapel Hill headquarters.

Another former campaign worker, also speaking on condition of anonymity, described Young as "a personable and hard working motivator" — unflinching in his loyalty to Edwards.

But other facts reveal a different side to Young.

According to public records obtained by FOXNews.com, Young was arrested in 1997 when he pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in Raleigh, N.C. But that is not his only criminal offense.

As well as getting arrested on drunk driving on more than one occasion other charges include check forgery, burglary and possession of alcohol on city property.

And a former aide said his reputation as a womanizer didn't earn him high marks among Edwards' campaign staff either.

"There were rumors that he was with other women who were not his wife even before the first Hunter story broke," said the aide.

Young's involvement with the free-spirited Webisode producer is confusing, at best.

The Youngs moved from Raleigh to a pricy gated community in Chapel Hill in late 2007, and rented their Governor's Club home from former NBA basketball player Eric Montross, who has told FOXNews.com that he doesn't know Hunter.

Around the exact same time, Hunter reportedly moved in to the exact same pricy gated community, just around the block from the Youngs.

Less than a year later the Youngs and Hunter reportedly moved again, this time to another gated community, across the country in Santa Barbara, Calif. This time they all lived together under one multi-million dollar roof.

Neighbors confirmed to FOXNews.com that Hunter and the Youngs were seen coming and going from the house, a situation one called "a little odd, certainly, given the situation." Another neighbor added that the Youngs' three children were home schooled during their time in Santa Barbara.

These living arrangements were reportedly bankrolled by Fred Baron, a Dallas attorney, who also chaired Edwards' presidential campaign finance committee. Baron admitted to The Dallas Morning News that he personally paid for Hunter and the Youngs' cross-country move because he was shielding them and their families from reporters. Edwards contends that he knew nothing of the payments.

(Are we to believe this lawyer spent his own money out of the goodness of his heart?)

Reports claim that payments of $15,000 a month were going to Hunter — payments the National Enquirer reported on Wednesday continue to this day.

One of the many questions yet to be answered is why Cheri Young, a self proclaimed philanthropist and nurse whose do-gooder ways were commended by Oprah Winfrey during her show's "Pay It Forward Challenge," would uproot her children, move across the country to live with her husband and the woman with whom her husband had an affair and allegedly fathered a child.

(Weird to say the least)

When reached by FOXNews.com, Cheri Young's brother Roger simply said that he declined to offer insight into "this situation."

A prime example of: No Guts No Glory

"You Still Can't Write About Muhammad," by Asra Q. Nomani

Starting in 2002, Spokane, Wash., journalist Sherry Jones toiled weekends on a racy historical novel about Aisha, the young wife of the prophet Muhammad. Ms. Jones learned Arabic, studied scholarly works about Aisha's life, and came to admire her protagonist as a woman of courage. When Random House bought her novel last year in a $100,000, two-book deal, she was ecstatic. This past spring, she began plans for an eight-city book tour after the Aug. 12 publication date of "The Jewel of Medina" -- a tale of lust, love and intrigue in the prophet's harem.

It's not going to happen: In May, Random House abruptly called off publication of the book. The series of events that torpedoed this novel are a window into how quickly fear stunts intelligent discourse about the Muslim world.

Random House feared the book would become a new "Satanic Verses," the Salman Rushdie novel of 1988 that led to death threats, riots and the murder of the book's Japanese translator, among other horrors. In an interview about Ms. Jones's novel, Thomas Perry, deputy publisher at Random House Publishing Group, said that it "disturbs us that we feel we cannot publish it right now." He said that after sending out advance copies of the novel, the company received "from credible and unrelated sources, cautionary advice not only that the publication of this book might be offensive to some in the Muslim community, but also that it could incite acts of violence by a small, radical segment."

After consulting security experts and Islam scholars, Mr. Perry said the company decided "to postpone publication for the safety of the author, employees of Random House, booksellers and anyone else who would be involved in distribution and sale of the novel."

Now let me ask this: If someone sent Random House a manuscript entitled Why Catholics Go To Hell and they felt they could make millions on it, would they publish it?

News Flash

The Chinese are now in collusion with the Cubans to drill for oil off the Cuban coast. What they are doing in affect is sucking out the oil reserves right from under the Florida coastline.

I seem to remember in 2006 gas was about $2.65 a gal when Pelosi and her band of fools took over with the promise of ending the war and reducing the cost of gas. You see where they got us. No wonder their approval rating is worse then Bush.

These Democratic bastards do not want to drill for oil anywhere. They want an alternative fuel source. They want something that is clean and nice. Like tomorrow somebody is going to invent a pill. It goes like this: You piss in the gas tank, drop the pill in, and you're good for 500 miles. This is the fucking dream world they live in!

They are against drilling so we have only one option left. We have to rely on our friends for oil:

Venezuela............ Controlled by the "DR Evil" of South America

Saudi Arabia........ Weren't 15 of the 19 hijackers Saudi's?

Iran ....... Their leader, another mad man, latest quote "Israel is a stinking corpse".

How does that saying go .......with friends like these....

It cost's Saudi Arabia less then $2.00 a barrel to pump the oil. So between the Saudi's, speculators, and the oil companies, it is jacked up to the tune of $140 a barrel.

Take a moment and imagine a football field. Now imagine a postage stamp laying on the football field. The postage stamp represents the size of the area as a whole that would be taken to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge better know as ANWR.

Look I don't want to walk down Naples pier and see a oil rig 500 feet away. But if it is 50 miles off shore, and you can't see it, who gives a shit?

We need a alternative fuel source. Fine. Search for it while we are drilling for oil. Bush said we are addicted to oil. And damn it, we need a fix!

Gitmo Fiasco

The image

I was listening to Dick Morris on TV. He has a new book out (Fleeced). According to him 485 prisoners at Gitmo have been released. Out of that number 50 have been captured or killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. (Suffice to say the remaining 435 have not converted to Christianity, they just haven't been killed or captured....yet!)

Then we get this shit:

Supreme Court backs Guantanamo detainees

In rebuke to administration, suspects may appeal in U.S. civilian courts

WASHINGTON - In a stinging rebuke to President Bush's anti-terror policies, a deeply divided Supreme Court ruled Thursday that foreign detainees held for years at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba have the right to appeal to U.S. civilian courts to challenge their indefinite imprisonment without charges.

Do you know the can of worms they just opened? Are these fuckers out of their minds? These dogs are military combatants, not liquor store robbers for Christ sake!

If I were in the military right now I would be thinking this.... Let me see if I got this straight, I am a married man with a family. I am laying my life down for God and country. My job is to kill or capture these bastards, and the one's that are captured may be released so they can come back and kill me or my buddies.....What the fuck am I doing here?

The Pentagon made a big mistake bringing these bastards to Cuba. They should have been shot in Iraq. Let's face it. No one in their right mind (including the Supreme Court) should let them out of jail. So why put them there in the first place? Do you want them dead, or an American soldier? Let them out and we got dead Americans somewhere in the world. It is as simple as that.

Asshole's 2 and 3. Asshole No. 1 Wright, better known as wrong, is missing from this photo

You have heard about Rev Wright. Now we got Father Michael Pfleger, another nut case going off in the same church. I can't understand why the Catholic church puts up with this asshole. On a side note how can you be a priest and adopt two sons? After this latest outburst of bullshit Obama said he is resigning his membership in the church.

In other words what he is saying is this... since I am running for president I cannot be a member of this church (a church that he has been a member of for twenty years!) on the other hand, if I wasn't running for president I would still be a member.

Seriously, is this the kind of guy you want to be leader of the free world????

A Question of Judgment

http://imgserv.ya.com/galerias2.ya.com/img/a/a196450841323faai3.jpg

Misspoke--- to speak, utter, or pronounce incorrectly.

Lie--- a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.

"I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."--Hillary Clinton, speech at George Washington University, March 17, 2008.

(What actually took place)

We all know the Clinton's are liars. Lying to them comes as naturally as breathing. The thing you really have to question is their judgment and how stupid they think the American people are, particularly the Democrats. This sniper incident clearly shows her lack of judgment and what little respect she has for the average American's intelligence. I mean, when she was the First Lady and made a public appearance, either here or abroad, she knew the media would be there to document the event. The entertainer Sinbad was with her and discounted everything she said. (she dismissed Sinbad by saying "he's a comedian") Did she think she could get away with it? Are Americans that stupid? Where was her judgment? Or maybe she thought.... if I get caught I'll just say I misspoke.

Her husband without question is even a bigger liar then she is. His judgment is also sadly lacking. Did he honestly think as President of the United States he is going to get a blowjob from a twenty something intern and she's not going to blab about it all over town?

Barrack Obama is trying to tell us he sat in the pew for 20 years and never heard any of Rev Wrights diatribes. Here again, glaring out like a sore thumb, a complete lack of judgment an utter contempt for America's intelligence.

These two are not qualified to be the Mayor of Elbow Grease, West Virginia. Let alone President of the United States!

Sniper Fire

The actual photo of Hillary being attacked

I really think the Democrats are about to implode. Another lie. Hillary claims she arrives in Bosnia (1996) under sniper fire and had to run and duck to get to her motorcade. Naturally the video surfaced showing her and Chelsea arriving, walking normally, shaking hands, and receiving flowers from a eight year old girl. Her campaign manager said she "misspoke".

This reminds me of the time when I was on Apollo 11. As Neil Armstrong started to walk down the ladder to the surface of the moon, I tapped him on the shoulder and said, "read this note I wrote for you". When he got to the bottom he placed his left foot on the surface of the moon, opened the note and said. "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".........Did I say that? I'm sorry. I misspoke.

How, or maybe I should say why, do Democrats fall for this shit?

Now I know why Michelle Obama said "For the first time in my life I feel proud to be an American."

After listening to Rev. Wright's shit for 20 years she woke up one morning and must have thought.....gee... my husband is Black and has a very good shot at becoming the next president of the United States...... Maybe America is not so bad after all.

This kills me...fodder for SNL

I especially like the last paragraph.

ALBANY, N.Y. — The state's new governor revealed Tuesday that he had affairs with several women, including a state employee. The confession came a day after he took over from former Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who was driven from office amid a prostitution scandal.

Gov. David Paterson said the affairs happened during a rough patch in his marriage, and that the employee did not work for him. He insisted he did not advance her career, and that no campaign or state money was spent on the affairs.

"I do not feel I have broken my commitment to the citizens of New York state," Paterson said at a news conference with his wife, Michelle Paige Paterson.

Paterson, a Harlem Democrat, admitted an affair in an interview with the New York Daily News on Monday after he was sworn in, but his comments Tuesday indicate the couple's fidelity problems went deeper than he first acknowledged. He is not having an affair now, he said.

The Patersons said they both had affairs during a time when their marriage was headed toward divorce. But they admitted the infidelity, sought counseling and have built a stronger marriage and family.

"We dealt with it as a family," his wife said. "A marriage has peaks and valleys ... no marriage is perfect."

"I think we have a marriage like many Americans, maybe even like many of you," the governor told reporters. "Elected officials are really just reflections of the people we represent."

Paterson said the affairs took place since about 1999, and one extended into his term as Senate minority leader, which began in 2002. He said he didn't reveal the affairs during his time as a senator, Senate minority leader or lieutenant governor because no one had asked him and he came forward because he didn't want the rumors to cloud his governorship.

"I didn't want to be blackmailed," he said.

Paterson, who is legally blind and the state's first black governor, ascended to office after Spitzer's resignation last week amid allegations he hired a high-priced prostitute from an escort service. Federal prosecutors are still deciding whether to pursue charges against Spitzer, a Democrat who was elected in 2006 with a historic share of the vote.

Assembly Democratic Speaker Sheldon Silver, a Democrat, said Tuesday he doesn't believe Paterson was weakened by the disclosure.

"This Albany press corps was in a feeding frenzy, looking for anything they could do to find it," Silver said. "And basically what David Paterson did was say, 'Stop bothering people. Here's the story. And that's it."'

Republican Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, who is next in the line of succession to the governor's office should something happen to Paterson, said Paterson's personal life is Paterson's business only as long as it doesn't interfere with how he governs.

What's good for the goose.....

http://a.abcnews.com/images/Politics/abc_obama_clinton_070406_ms.jpg

Clinton, Obama's rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, and her husband, former President Clinton, have suggested a joint Clinton-Obama ticket -- with Obama in the second slot.

President Clinton Saturday suggested a Clinton-Obama ticket would be "unstoppable."

"He would win the urban areas and the upscale voters. She would win the rural areas that we lost when President Reagan was president," he said while campaigning in Pass Christian, Mississippi. "If you put those two things together, you'd have an almost unstoppable force."

This was Obama's response:

"With all due respect. I won twice as many states as Sen. Clinton. I've won more of the popular vote than Sen. Clinton. I have more delegates than Sen. Clinton. So, I don't know how somebody who's in second place is offering vice presidency to the person who's in first place."

If I was in the audience I would raise my hand and say this:

"Using the same analogy Senator Obama now that we are winning in Iraq, and the surge is working, why would we now leave Iraq, as you propose, while we are in first place and capitulate to the secondary Iraqi insurgents?"

The Audacity of Deception

http://img.scoop.co.nz/stories/images/0712/6bafd1a870df5686bb44.jpeg
This is the biggest crock of shit I have ever heard in my life. This is a recent statement by Obama about the dirty bastard Jeremiah Wright, his Minister:

"Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy," he said in the statement. "I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it's on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue."

Lets analyze a small sample of some of Jeremiah Wright Sermons:

Jeremiah Wright has said that our government infected Blacks with HIV!

Jeremiah Wright has said that our government gave drugs to Blacks so they could put them in jail!

Jeremiah Wright has said that our government was responsible for 911! (This was only 5 days after the attack)

Jeremiah Wright has said "God Damn America" three times in one sermon!

Jeremiah Wright is a follower of Louis Farrakhan!

This is the guy that baptized Obama's kids!

This is the guy who married Obama!

This is who Obama titled his book The Audacity of Hope after. A sermon, by the same title, was given by Jeremiah Wright!

This is the guy that Obama has sat in the pews and listened to for 20 years. That's right .......20 fucking years !

You mean to tell me you are going to attend this church for 20 years and listen to him spew this shit then say that you " reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue."

Lets say Obama is not a Senator. He is a assistant manager at Wal-Mart and wife is a clerk at Circle K. Would he now denounce what is minister said? I think not.

Obama you are either a liar or a fool. In your case. You are both. Because you are a fool if you think for one second I believe your lies. I am not a Obama Zombie. A Zombie transfixed in the thought of hope and change controled by you the snake charmer. I will not walk in lock step off the cliff with you and your followers.

PS
: Personally... I think you might have been better off having us believe you are a Muslim!

Angry White Man

There is a great amount of interest in this year's presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats are riding high with two groundbreaking candidates — a woman and an African-American — while the conservative Republicans are in a quandary about their party's nod to a quasi-liberal maverick, John McCain.

Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smorgasbord of special-interest groups, ranging from gay, lesbian and transgender people to children of illegal immigrants to working mothers to evangelical Christians.

There is one group no one has recognized, and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard.

His common traits are that he isn't looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard.

The victimhood syndrome buzzwords — "disenfranchised," "marginalized" and "voiceless" — don't resonate with him. "Press 'one' for English" is a curse-word to him. He's used to picking up the tab, whether it's the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding.

He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a "living document" open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives.

The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he's willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn't bother him.

The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

His last name and religion don't matter. His background might be Italian, English, Polish, German, Slavic, Irish, or Russian, and he might have Cherokee, Mexican, or Puerto Rican mixed in, but he considers himself a white American.

He's a man's man, the kind of guy who likes to play poker, watch football, hunt white-tailed deer, call turkeys, play golf, spend a few bucks at a strip club once in a blue moon, change his own oil and build things. He coaches baseball, soccer and football teams and doesn't ask for a penny. He's the kind of guy who can put an addition on his house with a couple of friends, drill an oil well, weld a new bumper for his truck, design a factory and publish books. He can fill a train with 100,000 tons of coal and get it to the power plant on time so that you keep the lights on and never know what it took to flip that light switch.

Women either love him or hate him, but they know he's a man, not a dishrag. If they're looking for someone to walk all over, they've got the wrong guy. He stands up straight, opens doors for women and says "Yes, sir" and "No, ma'am."

He might be a Republican and he might be a Democrat; he might be a Libertarian or a Green. He knows that his wife is more emotional than rational, and he guides the family in a rational manner.

He's not a racist, but he is annoyed and disappointed when people of certain backgrounds exhibit behavior that typifies the worst stereotypes of their race. He's willing to give everybody a fair chance if they work hard, play by the rules and learn English.

Most important, the Angry White Man is pissed off. When his job site becomes flooded with illegal workers who don't pay taxes and his wages drop like a stone, he gets righteously angry. When his job gets shipped overseas, and he has to speak to some incomprehensible idiot in India for tech support, he simmers. When Al Sharpton comes on TV, leading some rally for reparations for slavery or some such nonsense, he bites his tongue and he remembers. When a child gets charged with carrying a concealed weapon for mistakenly bringing a penknife to school, he takes note of who the local idiots are in education and law enforcement.

He also votes, and the Angry White Man loathes Hillary Clinton. Her voice reminds him of a shovel scraping a rock. He recoils at the mere sight of her on television. Her very image disgusts him, and he cannot fathom why anyone would want her as their leader. It's not that she is a woman. It's that she is who she is. It's the liberal victim groups she panders to, the "poor me" attitude that she represents, her inability to give a straight answer to an honest question, his tax dollars that she wants to give to people who refuse to do anything for themselves.

There are many millions of Angry White Men. Four million Angry White Men are members of the National Rifle Association, and all of them will vote against Hillary Clinton, just as the great majority of them voted for George Bush.

He hopes that she will be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008, and he will make sure that she gets beaten like a drum.

Hillary Supporter Gloria Steinem Slams John McCain's Military Service

March 2, 2008

Feminist icon Gloria Steinem took to the stump on Hillary Clinton's behalf here last night and quickly proved that she has lost none of her taste for provocation.

From the stage, the 73-year-old seemed to denigrate the importance of John McCain's time as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. In an interview with the Observer afterward, she suggested that Barack Obama benefits—and Clinton suffers—because Americans view racism more seriously than sexism.

Steinem also told the crowd that one reason to back Clinton was because "she actually enjoys conflict."

And she claimed that if Clinton's experience as First Lady were taken seriously in relation to her White House bid, people might "finally admit that, say, being a secretary is the best way to learn your boss's job and take it over."

Steinem raised McCain's Vietnam imprisonment as she sought to highlight an alleged gender-based media bias against Clinton.

"Suppose John McCain had been Joan McCain and Joan McCain had got captured, shot down and been a POW for eight years. [The media would ask], 'What did you do wrong to get captured? What terrible things did you do while you were there as a captive for eight years?'" Steinem said, to laughter from the audience.

McCain was, in fact, a prisoner of war for around five-and-a-half years, during which time he was tortured repeatedly. Referring to his time in captivity, Steinem said with bewilderment, "I mean, hello? This is supposed to be a qualification to be president? I don't think so."

Steinem's broader argument was that the media and the political world are too admiring of militarism in all its guises.

"I am so grateful that she [Clinton] hasn't been trained to kill anybody. And she probably didn't even play war games as a kid. It's a great relief from Bush in his jump suit and from Kerry saluting."

To the Observer, Steinem insisted that "from George Washington to Jack Kennedy and PT-109 we have behaved as if killing people is a qualification for ruling people."

Other Clinton proxies, notably Black Entertainment Television founder Bob Johnson and a New Hampshire campaign chair, Billy Shaheen, have generated controversies with their criticisms of Obama. By contrast, Steinem told me the Illinois senator was "an intelligent, well-intentioned person." She added: "I would like very much to see him be president for eight years after Hillary has been president for eight years."

But she also opined that "a majority of Americans want redemption for racism, for our terrible destructive racist past and so see a vote for Obama as redemptive." Then, using a term for the mass killing of women, she added, "I don't think as many want redemption for the gynocide."

"They acknowledge racism—not enough, but somewhat," Steinem continued. "They would probably be less likely to acknowledge that the most likely way a pregnant woman is to die is murder from her male partner. There are six million female lives lost in the world every year simply because they are female."

Steinem has been a Clinton supporter for several years—even though, as she reminded me, she protested against Bill Clinton's welfare reforms outside the White House. Her support for the former First Lady has become more high-profile of late. She penned a January op-ed for the New York Times backing Clinton and asserting that "gender is probably the most restricting force in American life." She was also one of the women's rights activists who signed a February 15 letter published on the Huffington Post that insisted, "It's time for feminists to say that Senator Obama has no monopoly on inspiration."

Yesterday's event, billed by the Clinton campaign as "One Million for Hillary with Gloria Steinem," was one of several appearances scheduled for the veteran feminist across Texas as Tuesday's primary looms. It was held in a downtown music venue and was attended by around 200 people, the vast majority of whom were women. Before Steinem spoke, two Clinton campaign ads focusing on female support were shown, to applause.

In her speech, Steinem argued that there was a major sexist component to the murmurs from some quarters suggesting Clinton should abandon her presidential quest.

There is, she said, "a great deal of pressure at play for her to act like her gender and give in." Several shouts of "No!" came from the crowd. Steinem went on: "It's a way of reinforcing the gender roles, right? Men are loved if they win and Hillary is loved if she loses…But maybe we shouldn't be so afraid of an open convention that actually decides something. After all, it was an open convention in New York City that gave us Abraham Lincoln."

Steinem's speech offered, Letterman-style, ten reasons why she was supporting Hillary. Most were serious, though one of the more flippant was "We get Bill Clinton as Eleanor Roosevelt."

Steinem, like any good politician, also made sure to praise her surroundings. True to her own spirit, though, she did so in less decorous terms than any candidate for office would dare.

Other than Austin, she said, "there is no community in the whole world that understands how to include everybody, how to be serious and have a good time at the same time, how to be fan-fucking-tastic" quite so well.

UPDATE: The Clinton campaign sends over the following statement from Howard Wolfson: "Senator Clinton has repeatedly praised Senator McCain's courage and service to our country. These comments certainly do not represent her thinking in any way. Senator Clinton intends to have a respectful debate with Senator McCain on the issues."

A Paid Political Announcement by Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois)

From my friend Ed

My fellow Identity-Americans

As your future President I want to thank
my supporters, for their... well, support.

Your mindless support of me, despite my
complete lack of any legislative achievement,
my pastor's relations with Louis Farrakhan
and Libyan dictator Moamar Quadafi, or my
blatantly leftist voting record while I present
myself as some sort of bi-partisan agent of change.

I also like how my supporters claim my youthful
drug use and criminal behavior somehow qualifies
me for the Presidency after 8 years of claiming
Bush's youthful drinking disqualifies him.
Your hypocrisy is a beacon of hope shining over
a sea of political posing.

I would also like to thank the Kennedy's for
coming out in support of me. There's a lot of
glamour behind the Kennedy name, even though
JFK started the Vietnam War, his brother
Robert illegally wiretapped Martin Luther King
, Jr.
and Teddy killed a teenage girl. And I'm not
going anywhere near the cousins, both literally
and figuratively.

And I'd like to thank Oprah Winfrey for her support.
Her love of meaningless empty platitudes will be
the force that propels me to the White House.

Americans should vote for me, not because of my
lack of experience or achievement, but because
I make people feel good. Voting for me causes
some white folk to feel relieved of their imagined,
racist guilt.

I say things that sound meaningful, but don't really
mean anything because Americans are tired of
things having meaning. If things have meaning,
then that means you have to think about them.

Americans are tired of thinking.

It's time to shut down the brain,
and open up the heart.

So when you go to vote in the primaries,
remember don't think, just do.

And do it for me.

Thank You.

The Ever-'Present'Obama

By Nathan Gonzales

We aren't talking about a "present" vote on whether to name a state office building after a deceased state official, but rather about votes that reflect an officeholder's core values.

For example, in 1997, Obama voted "present" on two bills (HB 382 and SB 230) that would have prohibited a procedure often referred to as partial birth abortion. He also voted "present" on SB 71, which lowered the first offense of carrying a concealed weapon from a felony to a misdemeanor and raised the penalty of subsequent offenses.

In 1999, Obama voted "present" on SB 759, a bill that required mandatory adult prosecution for firing a gun on or near school grounds. The bill passed the state Senate 52-1. Also in 1999, Obama voted "present" on HB 854 that protected the privacy of sex-abuse victims by allowing petitions to have the trial records sealed. He was the only member to not support the bill.

In 2001, Obama voted "present" on two parental notification abortion bills (HB 1900 and SB 562), and he voted "present" on a series of bills (SB 1093, 1094, 1095) that sought to protect a child if it survived a failed abortion. In his book, the Audacity of Hope, on page 132, Obama explained his problems with the "born alive" bills, specifically arguing that they would overturn Roe v. Wade. But he failed to mention that he only felt strongly enough to vote "present" on the bills instead of "no."

And finally in 2001, Obama voted "present" on SB 609, a bill prohibiting strip clubs and other adult establishments from being within 1,000 feet of schools, churches, and daycares.

If Obama had taken a position for or against these bills, he would have pleased some constituents and alienated others. Instead, the Illinois legislator-turned-U.S. senator and, now, Democratic presidential hopeful essentially took a pass.

Some of these bills may have been "bad. They may have included poison pills or been poorly written, making it impossible for Obama to support them. They may have even been unconstitutional. When I asked the Obama campaign about those votes, they explained that in some cases, the Senator was uncomfortable with only certain parts of the bill, while in other cases, the bills were attempts by Republicans simply to score points.

But even if that were the case, it doesn't explain his votes. The state legislator had an easy solution if the bills were unacceptable to him: he could have voted against them and explained his reasoning.

Because it takes affirmative votes to pass legislation in the Illinois Senate, a "present" vote is tantamount to a "no" vote. A "present" vote is generally used to provide political cover for legislators who don't want to be on the record against a bill that they oppose. Of course, Obama isn't the first or only Illinois state senator to vote "present," but he is the only one running for President of the United States.

While these votes occurred while Obama and the Democrats were in the minority in the Illinois Senate, in the Audacity of Hope (page 130), Obama explained that even as a legislator in the minority, "You must vote yes or no on whatever bill comes up, with the knowledge that it's unlikely to be a compromise that either you or your supporters consider fair and or just."

Obama's "present" record could hurt him in two very different ways in his bid to win the Democratic presidential nomination and, ultimately, the White House. On one hand, those votes could anger some Democrats, even liberals, because he did not take a strong enough stand on their issues. On the other hand, his votes could simply be portrayed by adversaries as a failure of leadership for not being willing to make a tough decision and stick by it.

Obama is one of the most dynamic and captivating figures in American politics at this time, and he has put together an excellent campaign team. He clearly is a factor in the race for the Democratic nomination in 2008.

But as Democrats - and Americans - are searching for their next leader, the Illinois senator's record, and not just his rhetoric, will be examined under a microscope. As president, Obama will be faced with countless difficult decisions on numerous gray issues, and voting "present" will not be an option. He will need to explain those "present" votes as a member of the Illinois Legislature if he hopes to become America's commander -in- chief.

The Pope of Hope

His speeches on the campaign trail are becoming more and more like a Billy Graham Crusade:

"The change we seek is still months and miles away we need the good people of Texas to get there." ........

Here he is transformed. A fusion of Moses and MLK leading them to the promise land.

The Obama campaign is a tsunami.

He could announce he made a deal with Al Qaeda to blow up the Chrysler Building and still get votes.

"I'm for change. I'm for hope.".........Next town......"I'm for change. I'm for hope."..........Next town......."I'm for change. I'm for hope"........after a while this sounds like a broken record. The only thing his supporters love more are "HeadOn" commercials.

How many nut cases are there?

A background check is performed when an individual purchases a firearm to see if they have a criminal history. This law should be expanded to include this:

If you are taking prescription drugs, because you are mentally unstable, it should be included in this background check.

Harry Waxman does not want to waste his time on this. It's more important to find out if Roger Clemens used steroids.

Steven Kazmierczak

Seung-Hui Cho

Between these three they killed over 50 people for no reason. Who is going to watch over these people 24/7 to insure they take their medication? Even if they took their medication would you let one of them watch your children? This tragic story just keeps repeating itself.

Not to make light of the situation, but in the "good old days" if you were depressed you jumped off a bridge!

I'm pro-life. In this case I would have made an exception.

My recent email to Code Pink founder Medea Benjamin:

You once said when you lived in Cuba you thought, "You died and went to heaven." To bad that wasn't the case.

So why in the hell don't you go back to Cuba to live!

Oh wait. You can't. You were deported.

You would think....... it was a lesson learned..... but it went right over your stupid fucking head!

PS: Bush said he's waiting for the satellite to get over Berkeley before he fires.

Great Question

The image
I was watching Hannity and Colmes. He had a pollster on that analyzed what the viewer response was on some sort of graph as a Obama commercial was being played in front of a Democratic audience. They ranted and raved about Obama after the commercial.

Hannity asked the pollster to ask the audience to name one specific accomplishment of Obama, that they know of, since Obama became a Senator. No one could come up with one, except one guy. This guy could barely contain his excitement. I am not kidding this is what the guy said:

"Obama is even a better orator then
Jesse Jackson."

They all appeared so stupid, even I felt sorry for them!
