Maryland city mulling over idea to let illegal/undocumented residents vote

This is the insane left. Other countries put these law breakers in jail. We put them in the voting booth. They truly are "undocumented Democrats." In every state, if you go through a red light and get caught you get a ticket. Being here illegally is a violation in every state yet they choose not to follow the law. The feds ought to crack down and jail anyone who allows an illegal to vote.

Excellent follow-up article... from the Huff Post no less:

In conclusion:

-----------------------------------

A D.C. suburb in Maryland is considering a plan that would give undocumented immigrants the right to vote, making their city the largest in the Old Line State to do so.

The city, which is home of the University of Maryland’s main campus and nearly 30,000 residents, is weighing approval of the new measure to let noncitizens cast ballots for mayor and City Council, The Baltimore Sun reported Sunday.

Supporters of the measure say that local elections focus on issues like trash collection, and other municipal services and they are issues that affect residents of the city, regardless of their citizenship status.

“These are folks who have a significant stake in our community, and who rely on the facilities in our city,” College Park City Councilwoman Christine Nagle, who is sponsoring the measure, said to the newspaper. “To me, it just made sense.”

(If you had any sense asshole you wouldn't have made that statement)

Others in the community say that immigrants should not have a say until they have completed the process of becoming a citizen.

"On a personal level, I do not agree that noncitizens should be voting," College Park City Councilwoman Mary C. Cook said before adding that she will listen to her constituents before making a decision.

Jeff Werner, an advocate for tighter immigration restrictions with the advocacy group Help Save Maryland told the newspaper that he felt even more strongly about undocumented immigrants going to the voting booth.

“What gives them that privilege?” He asked.

A total of 10 municipalities across two counties allow noncitizens to vote in local elections. Voters in Takoma Park, a liberal enclave in Montgomery County, narrowly approved a referendum in making the town one of the first to allow the practice in Maryland.

It was preceded by Barnesville — a small town near Sugarloaf Mountain in Montgomery County — has allowed noncitizens to vote since 1918 and Somerset, which approved noncitizen voting in 1976.

The number of communities in Maryland adopting the measure has surged in recent months. Hyattsville in Prince George’s County approved immigrant voting just last year, followed by Mount Rainier, also in Prince George’s County.

The College Park proposal like the other municipalities, does not distinguish between legal permanent residents and undocumented immigrants.

Those in favor of the policy say that’s by design.

“We very intentionally made it so that we did not have questions about citizenship status,” said Patrick Paschall, a former member of the Hyattsville council who championed the legislation there said to the Sun. “It undermines the premise of noncitizen voting to try to draw a distinction.”

The life and times of Antoquan T. Watson

Wonder if he was related to Laquan?

Newly released footage shows the moment that police killed 27-year-old Antoquan T. Watson during a dramatic shootout. Watson had led police on a dangerous chase that ended with him leaving his vehicle and pointing a gun at responding officers. (They substituted 'pointing' for firing.)  He was shot 45 times, and the officers were found not guilty of any wrongdoing.

I guess we are led to believe the first bullet killed him and the other 44 weren't necessary. My take?
He's just as dead one way or the other.

I can hear it now.

Shooting death ruins Baltimore's ''Nobody Kill Anybody" Weekend

This plan worked out about as well as Cash for Clunkers!

Usually, the term "ceasefire" is reserved for warring nations. Then again we have Chiraq and Balran.

--------------------

A 24-year-old man was shot and killed in Baltimore on Saturday, police said, breaking a 72-hour "ceasefire" called by activists who had pleaded for a pause in the city's record homicide rate.

Community leaders organized around the social media hashtag Baltimore Ceasefire issued a general plea that "no one kills anyone" during the 72 hours of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

After no homicides were reported on Friday, the fatal shooting occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, police said in a statement.

"The victim was rushed to an area hospital by friends," police said, but he was pronounced dead at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

A non-fatal shooting occurred two hours earlier in which a 22-year-old man was shot in the arm, police said.

By the end of July, Baltimore police reported a record 204 homicides, according to the Baltimore Sun, leading to the Baltimore Ceasefire movement.

"There is a war going on in Baltimore right now. We are experiencing genocide among our African-American males, both by the hands of the Police Department and from one another. We the people need a call to action in order to save the city and our community for our future generations," Baltimore Ceasefire said on its Facebook page.

Baltimore, a majority black city, experienced rioting in April 2015 after Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old African-American man, died in police custody.
