'Disappointed' Kamala Harris breaks her silence on Jussie Smollett arrest three weeks after calling it a 'modern day lynching'

She's disappointed alright. Disappointed it wasn't Trump supporters who attack Smollett.

BTW...This photo of her with the most loved and respected man on the planet should do wonders for her campaign. At least Barry had the foresight to avoid him like the plague until AFTER he was elected.

I see one failed presidential bid... and one on the horizon.

Reporters peppered Harris with questions about the Smollett case as she and Sharpton left lunch, which she did not respond to. Sharpton said they did not discuss the case at lunch  (Just like the MSM)

Wonder who picked up the check?
Probably us.

---------------------------------

Democratic presidential contender Kamala D. Harris broke her silence Thursday on the Jussie Smollett case, calling the apparent hoax disappointing and a distraction from fighting racism and homophobia.

The California senator said in a statement posted to Twitter that “part of the tragedy” is that Mr. Smollett’s story about being attacked by Trump supporters “has been seized by some who would like to dismiss and downplay” what she called “the very real problems that we must address.”

Saying that “we must not allow that,” Ms. Harris implied that despite being “sad, frustrated, and disappointed” by the turns in the Smollett case, she will not change her tune on what she saw at the beginning — she called the attack “a modern-day lynching” — and sees now as the more important matter.

“I will always condemn racism and homophobia. We must always confront hate directly,” she said.

'THANKS FOR NOTHING, AOC!': Massive Billboard In NYC Blasts Ocasio-Cortez

On a tip from Ed Kilbane

Ryan Saavedra  February 20, 2019

Job Creators Network, a nonpartisan organization founded by entrepreneurs like Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus, purchased a billboard in New York City slamming socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for killing tens of thousands of jobs for New Yorkers that would have generated billions of dollars in economic activity.

"It comes after Ocasio-Cortez vigorously defended her role in sinking Amazon’s move to New York City on Tuesday in the face of bipartisan criticism," Fox News reported. "The freshman Democratic New York congresswoman has faced days of criticism from normally friendly media voices and fellow Democrats over her role in Amazon's decision to pull back from building a $2.5 billion campus in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens."

The billboard, located on 42nd street near 8th Avenue, reads:

25,000 Lost NYC Jobs

$4 Billion in Lost Wages

$12 Billion in Lost Economic Activity for NY

Thanks For Nothing, AOC!

Fox News host Laura Ingraham tweeted out a photo of the billboard:

In NY and seemingly unfazed by the billboard AOC decided on some Chinese food.

Her fortune cookie.

After enduring days of criticisms, including from local Democrats like New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, Ocasio-Cortez exploded in a Twitter rant. The Daily Wire reported:

On Tuesday evening, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez issued a series of tweets defending her role in ultimately killing the Amazon HQ2 deal — which would have brought 25,000 jobs to her district and nearly $30 billion in tax revenues to the state — and emphatically asserting that she does "understand" how tax incentives work.

The defensive thread was prompted by criticism from Crain's New York Business editor Erik Engquist, who said that while he usually defends the democratic socialist congresswoman as intelligent, her troubling comments about the state "invest[ing] those $3 billion" instead of supposedly giving it to Amazon have left him speechless.

"I’ve been telling @AOC critics that she is smart, but what do I say when she says nonsense like 'we could invest those $3 billion in [@amazon tax breaks] in our district. We could hire more teachers. We can fix our subways, we can put a lot of people to work for that money,'" Engquist tweeted.

"Not sure how many pundits talking about Amazon even read the deal or where it was going," AOC responded. "$500+ million of the deal was *capital grants.* $2.5 billion in tax breaks. It’s fair to ask why we don’t invest the capital for public use, + why we don’t give working people a tax break."

"Frankly, the knee-jerk reaction assuming that I 'don’t understand' how tax giveaways to corps work is disappointing," AOC continued. "No, it’s not possible that I could come to a different conclusion. The debate *must* be over my intelligence & understanding, instead of the merits of the deal."

Last week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo took aim at Ocasio-Cortez and other far-left New York Democrats in a statement for killing the Amazon deal:

Amazon chose to come to New York because we are the capital of the world and the best place to do business. We competed in and won the most hotly contested national economic development competition in the United States, resulting in at least 25,000-40,000 good paying jobs for our state and nearly $30 billion dollars in new revenue to fund transit improvements, new housing, schools and countless other quality of life improvements. Bringing Amazon to New York diversified our economy away from real estate and Wall Street, further cementing our status as an emerging center for tech and was an extraordinary economic win not just for Queens and New York City, but for the entire region, from Long Island to Albany's nanotech center.

However, a small group of politicians put their own narrow political interests above their community — which poll after poll showed overwhelmingly supported bringing Amazon to Long Island City — the state's economic future and the best interests of the people of this state. The New York State Senate has done tremendous damage. They should be held accountable for this lost economic opportunity.

The fundamentals of New York's business climate and community that attracted Amazon to be here - our talent pool, world-class education system, commitment to diversity and progressivism - remain and we won't be deterred as we continue to attract world class business to communities across New York State.

Jussie Smollett Charged With A Felony Filing a False Police Report

This was the so-called 'proof' he was attacked. Looks more like he cut himself shaving.

"The political left has contempt not just for Donald Trump but for Donald Trump’s supporters. They assume that Donald Trump’s supporters are racist even though 7 to 8 million Trump voters voted twice for Barack Obama."

Marc  Thiessen, Washington Post columnist

Sadly from what I understand Smollett could get at max a $25,000 fine and 3 years in jail. Which means the fine will probably be $5 or $10 thousand and get 6 months and do 3. On the lookout for the BLM march telling us he got railroaded. Hope they don't let me down.

Meanwhile in Virginia:

--------------------------------

“Empire” star Jussie Smollett has been charged with filing a false police report, a felony.

“Felony criminal charges have been approved by CookCountySAO against Jussie Smollett for Disorderly Conduct / Filing a False Police Report. Detectives will make contact with his legal team to negotiate a reasonable surrender for his arrest,” Chicago Police said.

Smollett’s attorneys and 20th Century Fox did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheWrap.

On Wednesday, Smollett was officially named a suspect in his own assault case.

Smollett reported Jan. 29 that he was attacked by two men who shouted racial and homophobic slurs and referenced “MAGA.” After releasing two former suspects over the weekend, police said they wanted to interview Smollett again — and then declared him the suspect.

Earlier on Wednesday, Fox had renewed its support of Smollett, saying, “Jussie Smollett continues to be a consummate professional on set and as we have previously stated, he is not being written out of the show.”

That statement came amid reports, including one here, that Smollett’s role of Jamal Lyon would be reduced over the remainder of “Empire’s” fifth season.

Since Smollett’s first police report on Jan. 29, the investigation took many turns, with varying degrees of cooperation from Smollett. At one point, police brought in brothers Olabinjo (“Ola”) and Abimbola (“Abel”) Osundairo as persons of interest. As it turned out, both had worked on “Empire.”

The brothers were released without charges last Friday after the police said “new evidence” had emerged and that the investigation’s “trajectory” had changed course. Earlier this week, CNN reported that Chicago police believed that Smollett might have paid the brothers to stage the attack.

Video footage emerged Wednesday of Nigerian brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo buying ski masks, red hats, and gloves in a store the day before Smollett reported the attack

A week before Smollett reported the attack, Fox received a letter threatening Smollett. On Tuesday, ABC News reported that the FBI and U.S. Postal Service were looking into the possibility that Smollett had sent the threatening letter to himself, or played a role in its creation and delivery.

The brothers said Smollett also sent himself this letter to the Fox studio a week before the attack

Also on Tuesday, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx recused herself from the investigation to avoid “potential questions of impartiality,” a rep for Foxx said. First Assistant State’s Attorney Joseph Magats has been set to act as prosecutor in her place.

CNN Staffers ‘Demoralized’ by Hiring of GOP Operative Sarah Isgur to Oversee 2020 Coverage

"They hired someone who will actually tell the truth!"

Mind you these comments from CNN coincide with the party they represent... except the familiar "inclusion and acceptance" is nowhere to be seen.

“It’s extremely demoralizing for everyone here,” one network editorial staffer told The Daily Beast.

Interpretation:

Isgur is going to give fake news a bad rap.

“People are generally confused,” another editorial employee said, adding that the decision to hire a partisan operative for an editorial position comes off as “very bizarre.”

Really? FOX has its fair share of... ah... let's call them dissenters:

Just to point out a few.

Every time they come on I hit the FF button on the remote.

---------------------------------

CNN staffers are upset and confused about the network’s decision to hire a partisan political operative to oversee its 2020 campaign reporting.

On Tuesday, a CNN spokesperson confirmed to The Daily Beast that the network has hired Republican political advisor Sarah Isgur as the politics editor helming CNN’s 2020 coverage. The move was first reported by Politico.

Throughout her decade-long career in Republican politics, Isgur has served as an advisor to Ted Cruz and Mitt Romney and was Carly Fiorina’s deputy campaign manager for the 2016 Republican primary. Until last year, Isgur was a top spokesperson for former Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ Department of Justice.

A CNN spokesperson said Isgur will not be involved in the network’s DOJ coverage but will guide TV and digital coverage of the 2020 election, occasionally offering on-screen analysis.

The hiring was met with a negative internal reaction, especially because many CNN staffers have been largely left in the dark on the controversial decision. While other marquee hires are often announced internally, as of Tuesday afternoon the company has not circulated any guidance to staff about Isgur’s new role, leading employees to wonder how much of a role she will have in day-to-day political reporting.

“It’s extremely demoralizing for everyone here,” one network editorial staffer told The Daily Beast.

“People are generally confused,” another editorial employee said, adding that the decision to hire a partisan operative for an editorial position comes off as “very bizarre.”

It is not unusual for cable-news networks like CNN to hire political operatives as on-air commentators or opinion writers. But it is almost unheard of for a high-profile operative with zero journalistic experience to land a top editorial role at a major news organization. (Even though CBS News political director Caitlin Conant is a former prominent Republican staffer, she served as an executive in the network’s communications shop for several years before moving into an editorial role.)

As such, Isgur’s hiring was also met with criticism by media reporters and media-ethics experts. “There weren’t any journalists available?” NYU journalism professor Jay Rosen said to The Daily Beast. “This person is not a journalist,” wrote Parker Molloy, a reporter for left-leaning media watchdog Media Matters.

While CNN discourages its reporters from publicly taking sides in partisan issues, Isgur’s political views are public. Her Twitter includes fact-free invectives against liberals and repeatedly rails against the “abortion industry.”

More interestingly, her feed has often targeted the mainstream media, including the massive cable-news network that now employs her.

“Seriously? More balanced reporting today from CNN: Chiron reads ‘anti-gay, anti-abortion group hosts value voters summit,’” she tweeted in 2013, taking issue with CNN’s accurate assessment of Family Research Council, the anti-gay organization that hosts the annual conservative confab.

A year later, she approvingly wrote “Boom” when a conservative website labeled CNN the “Clinton News Network.” At another point, she boosted a tweet calling CNN anchor Chris Cuomo “despicable.”

During her time managing Fiorina’s campaign, Isgur complained repeatedly about CNN’s coverage of the campaign.

At a Harvard University post-election panel, CNN chief Jeff Zucker said the network didn’t give Trump preferential treatment, and that other campaigns were offered the same interview opportunities as the then-Republican presidential candidate. “I don’t remember getting invited to call in, though!” Isgur heckled him, referring to Trump’s telephone interviews with cable networks.

And in the Trump era, she has suggested that media coverage of the president’s more controversial decisions has been tantamount to “outrage” bait.

“Once again Dems & media sounding their outrage gong at every single thing this President does to try to clean up mess of the last 8yrs,” she tweeted in Jan. 2017, defending Trump’s ban on travel from eight Muslim-majority countries.

AOC compares Trump's border wall to the Berlin wall

This bitch is totally whacked! Trump's wall is to keep illegals out. The Berlin wall aka "The Iron Curtain" was to keep people in.

(Sorry about the lip sync)

She talks about other people being weird!?!

It's truly hard to fathom this childish imbecile is a member of the United States Congress.
