Father of woman who joined ISIS sues Trump administration, seeking daughter's return to US

Hoda Muthana is an Alabama woman who left home to join the Islamic State group after becoming radicalized online. She now wants to return to the U.S., a lawyer for her family said this week.(Hoda Muthana/Attorney Hassan Shibly via Associated Press)

Democratic support for her re-entry will be hovering around 100%.

Mainly from her 'sister' Ilhan Omar.

Tweets from the ISIS dog she was married to.

Gotta love this one!

--------------------------

The father of an Alabama woman who left the U.S. to join the Islamic State group filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration this week, seeking the return of his daughter and her child to the United States, according to reports.

In the federal court filing, Ahmed Ali Muthana argues that his daughter, Hoda Muthana, 24, is an American citizen by birth and that the Trump administration should recognize her citizenship and "accept Ms. Muthana and her son back into the United States and to use all available means to do so," the Washington Post reported.

On Wednesday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the woman is not a U.S. citizen and will not be admitted into the country.

Hoda Muthana is currently in a Syrian refugee camp with her 18-month-old son after surrendering to Kurdish forces and fleeing the remnants of the Islamic State group (ISIS), a militant group she once praised but has since renounced, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Before heading to Syria at age 20 to become a so-called "ISIS wife" in a marriage to an Islamic State fighter, the woman was a student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Her lawyers said in a statement that she expects to be charged with providing material support to terrorism if she is allowed to return to the U.S.

"Ms. Muthana has publicly acknowledged her actions and accepted full responsibility for those actions," the lawyers said. "In Ms. Muthana's words, she recognizes that she has 'ruined' her own life, but she does not want to ruin the life of her young child."

Hoda Mthana now says she wants her son to grow up as an American citizen.

“I know I’ve ruined my future and my son’s future and I deeply, deeply regret it,” she told the Guardian on Monday.

At the heart of the issue is her citizenship status. The family and their lawyers say they were told that the U.S. determined she did not qualify for citizenship because her father was a Yemeni diplomat at the time of her birth.

But the family argues that is incorrect. They say her father ceased to be a diplomat before she was born in Hackensack, N.J. and that she had a legitimate passport when she left the U.S. to join the Islamic State in Syria in 2014.

President Trump tweeted Wednesday that he had instructed Pompeo on the matter, "and he fully agrees, not to allow Hoda Muthana back into the country!"

I would believe the bookies over the MSM...especially CNN

Even After Sanders, Harris, and Others Enter Race, Bookies Have Donald Trump as Massive 2020 Favorite

by Caleb Howe Feb 20th, 2019, 4:59 pm

I love it. If he's elected again the lib heads will explode!

Although there are now twelve (twelve!) already-declared candidates opposing Donald Trump in 2020, the nation’s gambling gurus are still heavily favoring him for the win in the next election. In fact, as the Washington Examiner reported Wednesday, the entry of Bernie Sanders as #12 in the race didn’t even budge the numbers.

In the latest batch of odds, released just after Bernie’s announcement, Trump is the overwhelming 3-2 favorite for reelection, writes the Examiner’s Washington Secrets columnist Paul Bedard, who spoke with the sportsbook manager at BetOnline.ag, Dave Mason.

----------------

“There were no changes to Sanders’ odds following the announcement. We had it as a foregone conclusion that he will be in the Democratic mix,” he said.

Sanders’ odds were as high as 28-1 in April 2017. “We did take some bets on Sanders this morning — he has the fourth highest bet count out of the Democrats behind Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Beto O’Rourke,” he added.

--------------------

However, it should be noted that the generic Democrat vs. Republican slightly favors the Democrat. So a bigger payout on Republican if you’re betting. Still, after two years of rough polling for Trump, it’s a remarkably resilient showing.

Jussie Smollett suspended from ‘Empire’ after prosecutors said he faked attack to boost salary

----------------------------

Jussie Smollett went from assault victim to suspect within weeks. Here are the events that led up to the "Empire" actor turning himself in. USA TODAY

Fox announced on Friday Jussie Smollett was suspended from the hit show "Empire" after the actor was accused of paying two men to attack him last month in what police say was a ploy to raise his profile because he was unhappy with his salary.

Not to worry.

"The events of the past few weeks have been incredibly emotional for all of us," said a statement from 20th Century Fox Television attributed to the show's executive producers. "Jussie has been an important member of our 'Empire' family for the past five years and we care about him deeply. While these allegations are very disturbing, we are placing our trust in the legal system as the process plays out. We are also aware of the effects of this process on the cast and crew members who work on our show and to avoid further disruption on set, we have decided to remove the role of Jamal from the final two episodes of the season,” they said, referring to his character, Jamal Lyon, the scion of a recording-industry family.

The show is currently in production on the 17th of the fifth season's 18 episodes and is expected to complete filming by mid-March. The suspension suggests that scenes in which he's already appeared will be removed from the finished episode. The show, still popular among young-adult viewers, is expected to be renewed and returns to Fox's lineup on March 13 after a winter break. But Smollett's return to the cast next season is highly uncertain.

The move came after a damaging day for the 36-year-old star on Thursday, which began when he turned himself in on charges he filed a fake police report and ended with prosecutors stating he plotted the Jan. 29 attack to make himself look like the victim of a brutal anti-black, homophobic crime.

'Disappointed' Kamala Harris breaks her silence on Jussie Smollett arrest three weeks after calling it a 'modern day lynching'

She's disappointed alright. Disappointed it wasn't Trump supporters who attack Smollett.

BTW...This photo of her with the most loved and respected man on the planet should do wonders for her campaign. At least Barry had the foresight to avoid him like the plague until AFTER he was elected.

I see one failed presidential bid... and one on the horizon.

Reporters peppered Harris with questions about the Smollett case as she and Sharpton left lunch, which she did not respond to. Sharpton said they did not discuss the case at lunch  (Just like the MSM)

Wonder who picked up the check?
Probably us.

---------------------------------

Democratic presidential contender Kamala D. Harris broke her silence Thursday on the Jussie Smollett case, calling the apparent hoax disappointing and a distraction from fighting racism and homophobia.

The California senator said in a statement posted to Twitter that “part of the tragedy” is that Mr. Smollett’s story about being attacked by Trump supporters “has been seized by some who would like to dismiss and downplay” what she called “the very real problems that we must address.”

Saying that “we must not allow that,” Ms. Harris implied that despite being “sad, frustrated, and disappointed” by the turns in the Smollett case, she will not change her tune on what she saw at the beginning — she called the attack “a modern-day lynching” — and sees now as the more important matter.

“I will always condemn racism and homophobia. We must always confront hate directly,” she said.
