There goes those presidential aspirations

Michael Avenatti was just found guilty on all charges in his Nike extortion trial

Celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti was convicted by a Manhattan jury on Friday on all three charges concerning his attempts to extort up to $25 million from Nike.

Avenatti was jailed last month after the judge revoked his bail following accusations that he committed additional financial crimes.

The 48-year-old litigator made headlines when he began working with his former client Stormy Daniels two years ago.

Avenatti will be tried in two other criminal cases in federal court on charges that he defrauded multiple clients and stole millions of dollars.

The disgraced attorney was accused of threatening to expose allegations that amateur basketball players were engaged in bribery unless the company paid him off. He was charged with transmission of interstate communications with intent to extort, honest services wire fraud, attempted extortion.

Avenatti, who was made famous by his representation of porn star and director Stormy Daniels, was jailed last month after the federal district court judge following accusations that he committed more financial crimes while out on bail.

Avenatti will be tried in two other criminal cases in federal court on charges that he defrauded multiple clients and stole millions of dollars. In one case, he's been charged with taking over $295,000 from Daniels' book advance and using the money for his own personal expenses.

The 48-year-old litigator started making national headlines two years ago when he began representing Daniels, who says she had an affair with President Donald Trump.

Just days before the 2016 US election, Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen arranged a $130,000 payment to Daniels to keep her silent about an affair she says she had with Trump in 2006.

Avenatti sued the president, on Daniels' behalf, accusing Trump of invalidating a non-disclosure agreement, and of defaming Daniels.

Jussie Smollett indicted

On a tip from Ed Kilbane

About time.

Barry and his wife had direct involvement with Kim Foxx trying to rig the Smollett case just like Barry tried to rig the election. Despite a mountain of evidence, suddenly out of the blue, the case was dropped to the disbelief of everyone. But Smollett, the dirty bastard, couldn’t leave well enough alone wanting another bite of the apple by attempting to sue the city which I think came back to bite him on the ass. Kim Foxx is going the way of Mike Nifong and not a minute too soon. A few more may go with her. Of course, Barry and his wife will get off scot-free.

--------------------------

Hate hoaxer Jussie Smollett was indicted Tuesday on 6 new charges of disorderly conduct by a special prosecutor in Chicago more than one year after he falsely claimed two white Trump supporters attacked him with bleach and put a rope around his neck.

It turned out Jussie Smollett paid two Nigerian brothers $3,500 to help him carry out the hate hoax.

Surveillance video showed the Osundairo brothers purchasing rope, red hats and other supplies to prepare for the hoax.

Chicago prosecutors out of State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s office dropped charges against actor Jussie Smollett in March of last year, sparking outrage.

All 16 felony counts against Jussie Smollett were dropped and wiped clean from his record.

All charges were dropped so a special prosecutor was appointed 6 months ago to Smollett’s hate hoax case.

Smollett may finally be brought to justice!

Fox 32 reported:

Former “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett was indicted Tuesday in Chicago by special prosecutor Dan Webb, stemming from the alleged racist and anti-gay attack on him that occurred in January of 2019, a source confirms to FOX 32 News.

He is due in court February 24.

Jussie Smollett also lied to the FBI about a threat he received in the mail that contained a letter with white powder.

Biden Hightails It From New Hampshire Before Fifth-Place Finish

Biden, "I'm going to beat Trump like a drum."

He can't even beat Klobuchar!

------------------------

(Bloomberg) -- Joe Biden’s campaign saw his fifth-place finish coming early enough Tuesday to hightail it to South Carolina, a state where he’s long held a giant lead in polling before voting even ended Tuesday in New Hampshire.

By the time the early results were on television, the former vice president had landed in Columbia to begin a three-week cross-country push that could either result in an improbable comeback or the eventual end to his third bid for the presidency.

After running a lethargic campaign since his fourth-place showing in Iowa last week, Biden appeared jolted awake by the reality of his position. He said he was determined to fight on in states with more racial diversity than the first two contests on the nominating calendar.

“We just heard from the first two states. Two of them. Not the whole nation. Not half the nation. Not a quarter of the nation. Not 10%. Two, two. Where I come from that’s the opening bell, not the closing bell,” he told a crowd in Columbia, South Carolina.

“I know this is going to be the fight of my life but as the old song goes, ‘Lord don’t move my mountain. Give me the ability to climb.’ I can’t do it alone. I need your help to climb that mountain and together we’re going to beat Donald Trump,” he said.

Biden’s team is confident that he can recover. He enjoys strong support from black and Latino voters and sees his Democratic opponents’ as weak with those constituents. But first he has to survive 11 days until the Nevada caucus and another week until the South Carolina primary. Three days after that is Super Tuesday.

Money could be a problem for the former vice president. He likely has enough to keep his campaign on life support but may struggle to stay competitive. He said this week that his campaign has been raising an average of $350,000 a day, while the campaigns of Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar and Bernie Sanders all boasted of million-dollar days last week.

The political class’ narrative out of Iowa was that the candidate who had staked claim to front-runner status by insisting he was most electable, had stumbled. He did little to buck that while campaigning in New Hampshire, almost encouraging voters to take another look at the other candidates they also liked.

But in South Carolina, he asked his supporters to stand by him.

“When you hear all these pundits and experts, cable TV talkers, talking about the race, tell them: ‘It ain’t over, man. We’re just getting started. Our votes count too. We’re not going to let anyone take this election away from me.’”

While a gospel choir sang in South Carolina, a recording played 1980s Paul Simon tunes in a Nashua, New Hampshire ballroom where roughly 150 people gathered to hear from former New Hampshire Governor John Lynch, an early Biden endorser in the state, and the candidate’s sister, Valerie Biden Owens.

“Joe Biden loves New Hampshire and supports it remaining first in the nation,” Lynch said.

“I do love New Hampshire and I mean it,” Biden said a few minutes later via a livestream that aired on three TVs in the ballroom. They vowed to be back to campaign against Donald Trump.

“We’ll see you in the general,” Jill Biden said.

No you won't.
