Trump slams ‘partisan' probes after Pelosi announces coronavirus committee: ‘Here we go again’

The last thing America needs to hear about right now is another 'investigation'. We've been beaten over the head with it since the friggin' Inaugural!

If they're going to persist with this lets start out with the 35 million that went to the JFK center.

-------------------------------

President Trump, speaking at the White House coronavirus briefing on Thursday, unloaded on Democrats who have created a new House committee with subpoena authority to investigate the federal response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Also during the press conference, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin announced that the first round of stimulus checks will be directly deposited into Americans’ bank accounts in the next two weeks. And, Trump revealed he had again tested negative for coronavirus.

"We have seen Americans unite with incredible selflessness and compassion," Trump began. "I want to remind everyone here in our nation's capital, especially in Congress, that this is not the time for politics, endless partisan investigations. Here we go again. They've already done extraordinary damage to our country in recent years."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., announced Thursday she's creating a new House committee to oversee the coronavirus response.

"It's witch hunt after witch hunt after witch hunt," Trump continued. "And in the end it's people doing the witch hunt who are losing --- and they've been losing by a lot. And it's not any time for witch hunts."

Speaking of the virus, Trump said: "It's time to get this enemy defeated. Conducting these partisan investigations during a pandemic is a really big waste of vital resources, time, attention. And we want to fight for American lives, not waste time and build up my poll numbers, because that's all they're doing, because everyone knows it's ridiculous."

Trump echoed those remarks in a harshly worded letter to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., on Thursday. Trump was responding to what he called Schumer's "Democrat public relations letter and incorrect sound bites, which are wrong in every way" concerning the federal coronavirus response.

"If you spent less time on your ridiculous impeachment hoax, which went haplessly on forever and ended up going nowhere (except increasing my poll numbers), and instead focused on helping the people of New York, then New York would not have been so completely unprepared for the 'invisible enemy,'" Trump wrote.

The president added: "I've known you for many years, but I never knew how bad a Senator you are for the state of New York, until I became president."

Trump further asserted that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would "likely" defeat Schumer in a primary if she chose to run.

Schumer's office later told Fox News that Schumer had worked things out with Trump, and that "after Sen. Schumer further made clear what he was requesting, the president said he was already in the process of sending a 'very nasty letter' to Sen. Schumer, but he would try to stop it from going out and would apologize to Sen. Schumer if he didn’t stop it in time."

That apparently didn't happen.

On Wednesday, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., compared the current pandemic to Pearl Harbor and the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and called for a comprehensive probe.

"After Pearl Harbor and 9/11, we looked at what went wrong to learn from our mistakes. Once we've recovered, we need a nonpartisan commission to review our response and how we can better prepare for the next pandemic. I’m working on a bill to do that.”

Unlike the 9/11-style after-action committee that Schiff and others have proposed, Pelosi said the committee she formed Thursday is designed to address the "here and now" -- specifically concerning the allocation of the historic amount of federal funds directed to economic recovery.

Pelosi compared the new committee to the Senate bipartisan committee chaired by then-Sen. Harry Truman in 1941 to investigate waste, fraud and abuse in defense spending in the early days of World War II.

"With over $2 trillion in emergency relief, we need to ensure those dollars are spent carefully and effectively," Pelosi said of the massive stimulus bill Congress already passed to address the coronavirus pandemic.

Democrats' allegation that the White House dawdled in the face of crisis came as Republicans pointed out that in January, when the Trump administration blocked travel from China and formed a coronavirus task force, Democrats were leading his impeachment.

U.S. intelligence reports in January and February warned of a likely pandemic, The Washington Post reported recently.

According to the Post: “Intelligence agencies ‘have been warning on this since January,’ said a U.S. official who had access to intelligence reporting that was disseminated to members of Congress and their staffs as well as to officials in the Trump administration, and who, along with others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive information.”

Despite that apparent warning, Schiff's intelligence panel was focused elsewhere. Schiff's Twitter feed did not mention the virus at all until Feb. 24, 2020, and Schiff's House Office press releases didn't mention it until March 15, 2020. The House intelligence panel website still has no press releases at all on the topic.

Instead, Schiff was almost exclusively focused on hiring staff to handle impeachment, bringing in roughly a dozen new employees.

And, Politico reported that the Trump administration held a briefing on the coronavirus for senators, but it was "sparsely attended" in part because it "was held on the same day as a deadline for senators to submit their impeachment questions."

"By February, the House and Senate Intelligence Committees had been receiving updates from the intelligence community about the spread of the virus for about a month," the outlet said.

Trump can't win no matter what

Russia sends 60 TONS of medical supplies to the US after Vladimir Putin offers to assist during phone call with Donald Trump - but critics say it is a propaganda gift TO the Kremlin

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed that the U.S. paid for the supplies, but did not disclose the amount.

If Trump didn’t get the supplies:

Thousands will die after Trump refuses to buy 60 TONS of desperately needed medical supplies after Vladimir Putin offers to assist

Schiff drafting legislation to set up 9/11-style commission to review coronavirus response

This bug-eyed son-of-a-bitch should be brought before a firing squad.

'Drafting Legislation' is code for impeachment. You know damn well the Dems are going to try and pin Coronavirus on Trump.

Anyone believe after the review is over they're going to conclude...
Under the circumstances Trump did a great job?

------------------------------------

J. Edward Moreno04/01/20 12:26 PM EDT

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is drafting legislation that would set up an independent commission that would investigate why the country was unprepared for the coronavirus pandemic.

“After Pearl Harbor and 9/11, we looked at what went wrong to learn from our mistakes,” the House Intelligence Committee chairman said in a tweet. “Once we've recovered, we need a nonpartisan commission to review our response and how we can better prepare for the next pandemic.”

Schiff did not give specifics regarding when the legislation will be dropped, but suggested it would be after Congress finishes the task at hand: mulling a series of stimulus packages aimed at alleviating the economic impact of the pandemic. Sources familiar with the legislation told NBC News the legislation is "very preliminary."

“We will need to delay the work of the commission until the crisis has abated to ensure that it does not interfere with the agencies that are leading the response,” Schiff told The Washington Post. “But that should not prevent us from beginning to identify where we got it wrong and how we can be prepared for the next pandemic.”

The administration has come under scrutiny in the past month for what critics call a late response to the virus. Critics have also pointed out that in 2018 the administration disbanded the National Security Council unit focused on pandemic preparedness.

Democrats' Deafening Silence on Biden Allegations As the Left is Confronted with Their Own 'Believe Women' Standard

On a tip from Ed Kilbane

Another MIA story from the MSM

Now you know where Sleepy Joe's son got his 'expertise'!

-----------------------------------------

Former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic Party’s assumed nominee to face President Trump at the ballot box in November, is now facing a real, detailed allegation of sexual misconduct from a former staffer. This goes further than the “creepy Uncle Joe” narrative that is laughed off by Democrats, Republicans and members of the media. Tara Reade, a former aide to then-Senator Biden (D-DE), alleges that Biden “began kissing her without her permission, pushed her against a wall, reached under her skirt, and penetrated her with his fingers,” during an encounter on Capitol Hill.

This is what Tara Reade looked like at the time.

Think of everything Joe DID DO in public...imagine what he could do in private?

Time’s Up Legal Defense, a nonprofit designed to help women combat sexual assault struggles from a legal stand point, is said to have declined Reade’s plea for help, per The Intercept. Time’s Up allegedly told Reade that their nonprofit status, and Biden's political stature, prevented them from helping her come forward with her story. The Intercept also pointed out that a top official at the public relations firm tied to Time’s Up is advising Biden’s campaign. Reade says that she brought her story to the campaigns of Sens. Kampala Harris (D-CA) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), but was given no help. The latter sentence embodies the hypocrisy entwined within the handling, at least thus far, of this graphic allegation against the presumptive Democratic nominee. Sens. Harris and Warren, alongside other Democratic colleagues, were at the forefront of the blisteringly partisan fight against the confirmation of soon-to-be Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Go on Bing and type Tara Reade. At the time of this post except for FOX NONE of the major news outlets are covering this story.

Before the allegations of sexual misconduct against Judge Kavanaugh became public knowledge, Democratic Senators were determined to derail Kavanaugh’s nomination. Their opposition had little to do with Dr. Ford's allegations, and everything to do with preventing a Conservative jurist from sitting on the Supreme Court.

Democrats in the upper chamber saw the misconduct allegations from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford as an avenue to do so, and their allies in the mainstream media absolutely crucified Kavanaugh before he was even able to testify.

Democratic Senators were very obviously using Dr. Ford’s visibly painful allegations as a delay tactic on Kavanaugh’s nomination, in hopes of taking back the Senate majority in the November midterm elections. Fortunately, their partisan endeavor failed; now-Justice Kavanaugh was given his well-earned seat on the bench and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) remains Majority Leader of the upper chamber.

The hypocrisy that I previously alluded to is this: the same Democrats who wasted no time trying to derail Kavanaugh’s nomination as soon as the misconduct allegations were made public, have remained silent on the allegation against Biden nearly a week after Reade went public. Many of these Democrats have endorsed Biden for president. Leading up to and during Justice Kavanaugh’s confirmation, the Left invented the “Believe All Women” standard for the handling of sexual assault allegations. This nonsense standard, which holds no legal standing, very obviously violates due process and goes against the fundamentals of fair jurisprudence, but this standard is embraced by Democrats.

Here is Biden's campaign manager, Symone Sanders, lambasting Senate Republicans for not taking Dr. Ford's allegations seriously; at the time, she was an aide to Sen. Bernie Sanders' (D-VT) presidential campaign. Senate Republicans bent over backwards to accommodate Dr. Ford, and allow her to tell her story.

"They are sending a message that they care more about putting a Supreme Court Justice on the bench that will do what they want them to do, as opposed to seriously, and, investigating, and taking a woman's charges seriously," she said on CNN during the Kavanaugh confirmation battle.

The mainstream media has also been oddly quiet after Reade's allegation against Biden became public, given their complete crucifixion of Kavanaugh when Dr. Ford came forward, as Robby Soave of Reason highlights:

Reade's allegation against Biden comes with corroboration of familiarity with the story, from two family members, as The Federalist points out. No friends of Dr. Ford, nor witnesses present at the alleged party in the summer of 1982, could corroborate Dr. Ford's story, but her word alone was enough for Senate Democrats. Almost a week after these allegations against Biden, which appear substantive and graphic on the surface, the same Democratic Senators and pundits who wasted no time calling for Kavanaugh to rescind his nomination are silent on Tara Reade’s story. This is not Democrats' first instance of silence when one of their own is accused. Democrats ignored graphic allegations of domestic violence against former Democratic National Committee (DNC) vice-chair Keith Ellison, and have historically turned a blind eye to the multitude of sexual misconduct allegations former President Bill Clinton.

The “Believe all Women” standard has no legitimate legal standing, and even makes the "Preponderance of Evidence" standard present in former President Obama's "Dear Colleague Letter" appear constitutional by comparison. No one who is pressing allegations of such a heinous sexual crime should be believed at face-value on the sole basis of their gender, let alone without evidentiary support or witness corroboration. Women, and men, who come forward deserve to be heard, as does the accused party, but this very basic tenet of due process via the Fifth Amendment has been put on the back-burner by the Left. The "Believe All Women" standard actually does a disservice to real victims of these heinous sex crimes; by pledging to believe anyone who makes a single charge of a crime of this nature, real victims are burdened and discouraged from coming forward.

Biden himself has embraced the “Believe all Women” standard, which goes against our fundamental legal fabrics, per National Review:

What should happen is the woman should be given the benefit of the doubt and not be, you know, abused again by the system. I hope that they understand what courage it takes for someone to come forward and relive what they believe happened to them and let them state it, but treat her with respect.

Former Vice President Biden deserves the due process and fair treatment that Justice Kavanaugh was not fully afforded, just as Tara Reade deserves the opportunity to tell her story, as Dr. Ford was able to because of Senate Republicans. Senate Democrats made it clear that evidence and witness corroboration have no role to play in the handling of misconduct allegations, at least if the accused is a Republican. By their own legal facade, Biden should be unqualified to be the Democratic nominee; unless, of course, the "Believe All Women" standard was invented to derail a qualified Conservative jurist's nomination, with an otherwise spotless record, via unsubstantiated misconduct allegations.

CNN’s Chris Cuomo tests positive for COVID-19

The anchor said he will continue to host his show, "Cuomo Prime Time," from his basement.

(The same place his rating are)

-----------------------

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo announced Tuesday that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Cuomo, whose brother is New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, said he will continue to host his show, “Cuomo Prime Time,” from his basement where he has quarantined himself from his family.

The CNN journalist said he had recently been exposed to people who later tested positive for COVID-19, and he began experiencing shortness of breath, fever, and chills.

“We will all beat this by being smart and tough and united!” he wrote.

The New York governor reportedly addressed his brother’s positive test results Tuesday during a press briefing on the outbreak, saying he would “be fine.”

On Monday night, Chris Cuomo interviewed his brother on his show, apparently from his basement, and asked him if he had plans to run for president.

“No,” his older brother replied.
