Network evening news didn’t cover Pelosi’s salon controversy until she claimed she was set up

The story was completely ignored when it broke

Nancy Pelosi visits San Francisco hair salon despite pandemic closure

The evening newscasts on ABC, NBC and CBS didn’t cover the controversy surrounding House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trip to a San Franciso hair salon ‒ in violation of state and local ordinances amid the coronavirus pandemic ‒ until the Democratic leader blamed the salon owner.

In security footage obtained by Fox News and time-stamped Monday at 3:08 p.m. PT, the California political powerhouse is seen walking through ESalonSF with wet hair, and without a mask over her mouth or nose.

ABC’s “World News Tonight,” NBC’s “Nightly News” and “CBS Evening News” all ignored the story when it broke on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Pelosi accused the salon of "setting her up" and called on the struggling business to apologize. Then, the broadcast networks finally decided to enlighten viewers on the situation.

They have a lot in common.

“ABC, CBS, and NBC only covered the controversial incident Wednesday after the Speaker held a press conference and did her best impression of former D.C. Mayor Marion Barry, claiming her hair appointment was ‘a setup,’” NewsBusters analyst Nicholas Fondacaro wrote.

Fondacaro noted that CBS “showed their hand early” with an on-screen graphic focusing on the “set up” narrative, while ABC’s Tom Llamas “seemed sorry they were doing the story” at all.

“The staunchest defense of Pelosi came from NBC ‘Nightly News’ and Capitol Hill correspondent Kasie Hunt, who went after the salon,” Fondacaro observed.

“The salon wasn't following the rules. Even though indoor services are allowed by the state of California, the city of San Francisco only started allowing any hair appointments on Tuesday, and they must be outdoors. Shampooing isn’t allowed. And masks are required. Pelosi was pictured without one,” Hunt said.

During an exclusive interview with Fox News on Tuesday, salon owner Erica Kious cast Pelosi’s visit as part of a double standard.

“It was a slap in the face that she went in, you know, that she feels that she can just go and get her stuff done while no one else can go in, and I can’t work,” Kious told Fox News, adding that she “can’t believe” the speaker didn’t have a mask on. (From the footage, it appears Pelosi had some kind of covering around her neck.)

“We’re supposed to look up to this woman, right?” Kious said. “It is just disturbing.”

Look up...normally you look down on snakes.

Nancy Pelosi is branded a hypocrite for breaking COVID rules to get a blowout at a closed San Francisco salon

Blowout that's a good term. The bitch looks like a flat tire.

Nancy Pelosi got a blowout at a San Francisco salon closed under COVID rules and was filmed inside the store without a mask, footage released Tuesday reveals

Nancy Pelosi got a blowout at a San Francisco salon closed under COVID rules since March and was filmed inside the store without a mask, footage released Tuesday shows.

In the clip taken at eSalon in the city Monday afternoon and obtained by Fox News the Democrat is seen with wet hair and her mask around her neck rather than on her face, as she is followed closely behind by a stylist, who is in a face covering.

Salons in San Francisco have been closed since March and were only told they could reopen Tuesday; they can still only offer outside styling. In June Pelosi said a federal mandate on mask wearing was 'long overdue'.

This is what she said about (President 'bad example' Trump) prior to this incident...what a f-ing hypocrite!

Time to get out the reparations paperwork

On a tip from Ed Kilbane

Don't know how she's going to get out of this one?

Just think of the irony in all this. If there was a statue of Harris and with her connection to slavery the left would be tearing it down, but instead, they're running her for VP!!!

Anarchists force Wheeler to move

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler moving to avoid rioters targeting his home

The Democratic mayor of Portland, Ore., is moving from his $840,000 condo to avoid rioters who have repeatedly targeted the building, according to a report.

Protesters in Portland gathered outside mayor Ted Wheeler's apartment building on Monday night to 'celebrate' his birthday by starting a fire in the lobby

Ted Wheeler wrote to neighbors in his building to say it would be “best for me and for everyone else’s safety and peace” for him to move from the building that rioters tried to torch on his 58th birthday Monday, according to The Oregonian.

“I want to express my sincere apologies for the damage to our home and the fear that you are experiencing due to my position,” Wheeler reportedly wrote, according to a screenshot of the email.

“It’s unfair to all of you who have no role in politics or in my administration.”

The mayor bought his two-bedroom condo in the building with 114 units for $840,000 in 2017, the paper said, citing property records. It has regularly been a scene of protests, with fireworks lit and lights shone on the building as fires also get lit in the street.

Wheeler has faced harsh criticism for his handling of the protests in the City of Roses for 97 consecutive nights since George Floyd’s police-custody death in Minneapolis in May. He has sympathized with protesters, called for cops to refrain from arrests and also pledged to defund the police.

President Trump on Sunday called him a “wacky Radical Left Do Nothing Democrat Mayor of Portland” who has “watched great death and destruction of his City during his tenure.”Enlarge ImagePortland police declared a riot on the 95th night of demonstrations in the city late Aug. 31.Chris Khatami via Storyful

Portland’s police chief, Chuck Lovell, used the arson attack on Wheeler’s condo building as proof that “the nightly violence is coming at increased cost.”

“Our elected officials need to do their part to draw a line in the sand and to hold people accountable,” he said, calling for “urgent action.”

“The violent behavior must end,” the chief said.

Wheeler also attacked the acts of “senseless violence” that “range from stupid, to dangerous, to criminal” — while highlighting alleged police brutality and saying he still stands with protesters.

“Elected leaders – or those seeking office – who remain silent in the midst of these acts of violence and criminal destruction are equally complicit,” he wrote.

“The community must rise up and say ‘enough is enough’ and hold all of us accountable. We cannot truly move on together and make the positive changes we want to see until this violence is stopped. All violence.Enlarge ImagePortland police declared a riot on the 95th night of demonstrations in the city late Aug. 31.Chris Khatami via Storyful

“We cannot allow our anger to destroy what we are trying to support,” he said.

“I stand by our positive movement for police reform and I stand by the hundreds of thousands of Portlanders who want to peacefully protest and ask for more reform,” he wrote.

“If you are participating in violence, I want to be clear: I denounce your actions. … Your actions demonstrate a level of hate and destruction that we WILL NOT condone or tolerate.”

BTW...If you're "just a protester" what does this have to do with the death of George Floyd, Rayshard Brooks, and the shooting of Jacob Blake?
