1. Armed robbers who use guns or other deadly weapons to stick up stores and other businesses will be prosecuted only for petty larceny, a misdemeanor, provided no victims were seriously injured and there’s no “genuine risk of physical harm” to anyone. Armed robbery, a class B felony, would typically be punishable by a maximum of 25 years in prison, while petty larceny subjects offenders to up to 364 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

So the fact they are pointing a loaded gun at someone doesn't pass muster for  “genuine risk of physical harm”?

2. Convicted criminals caught with weapons other than guns will have those felony charges downgraded to misdemeanors unless they’re also charged with more serious offenses. Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a class D felony, is punishable by up to 7 years behind bars.

3. Burglars who steal from residential storage areas, parts of homes that aren’t “accessible to a living area” and businesses located in mixed-use buildings will be prosecuted for a low-level class D felony that only covers break-ins instead of for more serious crimes. Those more serious crimes, class B and class C felonies, would be punishable by up to 25 and up to 15 years in prison respectively. 

4. Drug dealers believed to be “acting as a low-level agent of a seller” will be prosecuted only for misdemeanor possession. Also, suspected dealers will only be prosecuted on felony charges if they’re also accused of more serious crimes or are actually caught in the act of selling drugs. That felony would mean facing up to seven years behind bars.

Ghislaine Maxwell has been found guilty of recruiting and trafficking young girls to be sexually abused by the late American financier Jeffrey Epstein.

A US jury convicted her of five out of six charges, but the legal process is not over for Maxwell, 60, who is yet to be sentenced and faces a separate trial for perjury.

She faces decades behind bars

All up, Maxwell is facing 65 years in jail.

She was found guilty of the most serious charge against her - that of sex trafficking, which alone carries a maximum sentence of 40 years.

Her jail term will be decided by US District Judge Alison Nathan, who has not yet set a sentencing date. 

For the moment, Judge Nathan will be waiting to receive a pre-sentence report. This will be compiled by an impartial investigator who will look into things like Maxwell's background, family, education and employment history to determine if any of these should influence the severity or leniency of the sentence.

Sarah Krissoff, a former prosecutor with the Southern District of New York, told the BBC she expected a "very significant prison sentence" for Maxwell.

"Given the involvement of minors, the judge has really great discretion to impose a significant sentence, and based on the evidence that was presented at trial, frankly, I expect the judge to impose a very severe sentence upon her," she said.

While Maxwell awaits sentencing, she will be held in Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center, where she has been kept in isolation since July 2020, and has previously complained about the conditions.

So if this was a different town, a different cop, no taser was involved and he got shot resisting arrest what would they say then? What were they supposed to do let him drive away with a warrant out for his arrest? What really pisses me off more than anything this worthless waste of skin's family is going to wind up getting millions!
