Sinking to a new low in stupidity

Get a load of this. They want this guy to change the name of his restaurant "illegal pete's" because its 'offensive to immigrants'... meaning illegals!

If one is truly an immigrant who came here legally why would they be offended?

The good townspeople don't want to offend the "inhabitants" who broke our laws, jumped the fence, entering the country illegally. What is the rationale here? I can't understand why any American would support anybody, regardless of race, entering the country illegally. WTF do we have laws for?

After reading this article I came to the conclusion the guy who owns the restaurant is just as stupid as those who oppose the name!

Owner of Mexican restaurant 'Illegal Pete's' won't change name 'offensive to immigrants' because it memorializes his father who died of cancer

• Pete wrote on the restaurant's website that when he was opening the restaurant, his father, also named Pete, was battling cancer

• Last month, Colorado residents urged Pete to change the name of his business due to its 'social context' but he says he won't budge

A Mexican restaurant owner says he won't change the name of his establishment some community members find offensive to illegal immigrants.

The restaurant in Denver, Colorado has been named Illegal Pete's for many years and owner Pete Turner says the name wasn't meant to offend and was named after his rambunctious father with whom he shared a name.

Turner wrote a blog post on the restaurant's website saying that he 'appreciates' the community's concern but says that they vastly misunderstood the meaning of his restaurant's name and what it stands for.

Illegal Pete: Pete Turner said he never meant to offend illegal immigrants and that the restaurant is named after his father and after a bar in a novel he read as an English major at the University of Boulder

Thanks for the apology. I feel better now.

'When it came to the name Illegal Pete's, I settled on the name of a bar in a novel. The name resonated with me for the obvious reason that my name is Pete, but of equal importance, it was my father's name.'

Pete wrote on the restaurant's website that when he was opening the restaurant, his father was battling cancer.

'My father, who helped me secure the financing for the restaurant, was terminally ill with cancer, having battled stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma since 1989. He was never able to work in the restaurant, but he was my moral support during the months leading up to opening and the two years of operation up to his death in August 1997. Needless to say, he was a fighter, and I liked that he and I could share the ins and outs of this business,' writes Pete.

The restaurant's mission statement is, 'To create an atmosphere that celebrates individuality and relaxed human connection.'

Fort Collins: Nearly 50 Fort Collins residents gathered at a meeting last month to demand that Turner change the name of the restaurant, just weeks before the new location's opening

Pete said he has chosen to brand the restaurant in several different ways but said none of those branding had an emphasis on illegal immigrants, reportsFox.

Last month, Colorado residents urged Pete to change the name of his business due to its 'social context.'

Pete Turner listened to a concerned crowd in Fort Collins in October as they urged him to change the name of his business, saying it was offensive to immigrants, according to the Coloradoan.

CBS Denver reports that nearly 50 people attended the meeting including community members and Colorado State University students and faculty.

Turner reportedly told the crowd that the name is a literary reference to a bar in a novel he read as an English major in Boulder.

Turner also told the crowd that he has helped pay for some of his employees to become citizens.

But crowd member, Lucy Gonzales, 25, told Pete to drop the 'illegal' -- or 'I-word' -- in the name and many likened the term to racial slurs toward African-Americans.

Kim Medina, Fort Collins immigration attorney and meeting moderator, said the issue was one of a social nature.

'Social context is hugely important,' Medina said at the meeting.

'We'll never get to big issues, such as immigration reform, until we can solve these smaller issues of language.'

The meeting comes almost three weeks before Turner is scheduled to open a new 'Illegal Pete's' in the town, according to the Coloradoan.

Turner's attendance at the meeting was prompted by a letter written to him from Antero Garcia, Colorado State University assistant English professor, the Coloradoan reports.

In the letter, Garcia wrote: 'The restaurant will be located in the same area that current Fort Collins residents remember often seeing signs saying 'No dogs or Mexicans.'

It is under this legacy of American racist practices that the name 'Illegal Pete's' becomes unacceptable.'

And at the meeting, Garcia said that Turner's restaurant would instil violence in the community.

After many shared personal experiences about growing up in Fort Collins during times of harsh racial discrimination, Turner said he couldn't imagine living that way, CBS reports.

Though he could empathize with the group, Turner said he did not realize the issue was one regarding free speech and said he believes he has a right to name his business whatever he chooses.

Cheryl Distaso, coordinator of the social justice non-profit Fort Collins Community Action Network, said that the restaurant's name is dehumanizing and she is confident that Turner will 'do the right thing.'

Midterm 2014...Haven't felt this good since 2010

YES

--------------------------------------

Josh Earnest assured us that, no matter the outcome of the election, one thing is certain: It has nothing to do with Barack Obama. “It’s not” about him, Earnest insisted.

Hey Josh...we believed the workplace violence bullshit too!

This isn't a referendum on Barry?

So that I got this straight the electorate like his policies/scandals so much in a show of support they voted Republican??? My take... this is retribution for the enormous mistake they now know they made in the 2012 election. Electing Barry once was regretful. Twice is unforgivable!

(Looks like the IRS may have to do some more "auditing")

HIT THE ROAD JACK...

Without a doubt Harry Reid is the most worthless scumbag in the entire Congress. As a matter of fact he should be in jail.

The biggest prize for me in the entire election... he will no longer be the Senate Majority Leader.

Thank you God.

PS:
I like to send a special thank you to Joe Biden for offering a "helping hand" to Greg Orman.

Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi freed from Mexican jail

You really have to question the timing on this.

Okay people...  you can say you bitch because he was held captive and now your bitching because he was released.

I submit this is a page right out of Barry's Political Bullshit Playbook. After 214 days held captive, suddenly with the mid-term election just 3 days away, he's  released ... not 6 months ago, not 3 months ago, but three days before the election!  Tahmooressi was kept as an ace in the hole purposely to help sway the stupid electorate. I say stupid because the majority will not see this for the ruse it is.

I'm really sorry Tahmooressi had to go through this... used like a political pawn his life savings wiped out by legal fees... while his counterpart (I use the term loosely) Bergdhal wound up with backpay totaling $350,000.

Bottom line is Tahmooressi  was released to help Barry along with the mid-terms. For the same reason you won't here Bergdhal was AWOL/ deserter until after the mid-terms.

I can see through this like it was a window... reminiscent of how inexplicably the unemployment rate dropped just before the 2012 presidential election.

Mexican judge orders immediate release of jailed Marine

(Not really Barry did)

After 214 days in a Mexican prison, Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi crossed the US – Mexican border Friday night, boarding a private jet for Florida shortly after 9 p.m., after a strong diplomatic push convinced a judge to release the former Marine on humanitarian grounds.

His release comes after a lengthy trial and a Congressional hearing in September highly critical of Obama Administration efforts to secure his release and Mexico’s refusal to let him go. Tahmooressi said he made an innocent mistake the evening he crossed into Tijuana with three weapons in his truck on March 31.

While his defense rested its case several weeks ago, Tahmooressi’s release came only after a strong diplomatic push from former Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico and Reps. Ed Royce (R-CA) and Matt Salmon (R-AZ).

The three officials, along with Tahmooressi’s mother Jill, have spent the last week in Tijuana pressing officials for his release.

Speaking by phone on his way to board a plane with Tahmooressi, Richardson said the trio, along with talk show host Montel Williams, met with Mexico’s Attorney General and Ambassador to the US, advocating for his liberation.

Upon release, Mexican officials processed him quickly through immigration, Richardson said.

“He was happy. He was smiling. He's looking good. His spirits are high,” Richardson told Fox News, adding that Tahmooressi said he wants a steak dinner and stone crabs.

But Richardson also said Tahmooressi is seeking privacy and still needs to receive treatment for his Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, something that wasn’t available in Mexican prison-- a key argument put forth by defense attorney Fernando Benitez.

Benitez said that Tahmooressi was continuing to deteriorate and Mexico didn’t have the expertise or facilities to treat his PTSD, which he suffered after two tours in Afghanistan.

The defense attorney also alleged that customs agents held Tahmooerssi illegally, denying him access to a translator, lawyer and consular access.

But after the seven-month ordeal, it was the PTSD argument that ultimately pressured the judge to acquit Tahmooressi.

“The judicial process of Mexico made the right choice,” Richardson said. “The humanitarian release was justified based on PTSD, something that the Mexican judicial and medical system is not as conscious of as the United States.”

While his release was granted by the trial judge, Richardson acknowledged it likely would not have happened without political pressure.

(Enter Barry)

“The totality of diplomacy, the judicial process, the legal strategy and the importance of the American-Mexican relationship resulted in Andrew's release,” Richardson said. "And now we have this great outcome. Andrew's coming home."

Former Marine: D.C. -area school forced daughter to list Islam's benefits

Why wait until college to poison their minds when you can do it now.

I feel his pain. Imagine fighting against Islamic terrorists only to come home and find your own daughter force-fed the "benefits" of this twisted religion in school.

The assignment was three pages long and included questions such as, "How did Muslim conquerors treat those they conquered," with the correct answer of "With tolerance, kindness and respect." The kid's response should have been...you mean like ISIS? What a fucking joke!

Melissa Wood, the veteran's wife, said that there would be an entirely different response had there been a similar assignment for Christianity.

Very insightful woman...that Mrs Woods.

-------------------------------------------------------

A former Marine who served in Iraq says he has been banned from his daughter's Washinton, D.C.-area high school for getting into a heated argument with the vice principal over some assigned homework about the benefits of Islam.

According to Fox News, Kevin Wood said he learned that La Plata High School in La Plata, Md., had given out a history assignment requiring students to provide the benefits of Islam, and the meeting eventually got heated to the point where the school said Wood threatened them, causing his ban from school property.

Although Wood admitted getting angry, he said the assignment violates the Constitution as an establishment of a religion and therefore has no place in school. He also denied threatening anyone.

The school is also not backing down from the assignment, arguing that it teaches world history. However, in lieu of doing the assignments, the school allowed his daughter — who is in the 11th grade — to use that time in the school library instead.

Melissa Wood, the veteran's wife, said that there would be an entirely different response had there been a similar assignment for Christianity.

The assignment was three pages long and included questions such as, "How did Muslim conquerors treat those they conquered," with the correct answer of "With tolerance, kindness and respect."

Wood found out about the homework assignment when she asked her daughter what her history notes were on, and learned it was about Islam. Wood said he immediately became upset, according to WUSA 9.

The school's class was in the midst of studying the empires of the Middle East. The public school system said it teaches students about the various empires and how they were shaped by religion, in addition to other factors like geography and politics.

The Wood family asked the school to excuse their daughter, but the school denied the request, eventually issuing a no-trespassing order against Kevin Wood to avoid a confrontation.
