McCain, Democrats blast Trump's transgender ban

The title of this article implies there's a distinct difference. The "maverick" is nothing but a traitor in sheep's clothing doing for Trump what Benedict Arnold did for Washington.

Imagine you're in the military under fire in Afghanistan:

The paradox for me is Trump won AZ... the same state that has been re-electing asshole McCain since 1987!

---------------------------

WASHINGTON — Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain on Friday sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s ban on transgender individuals serving in the military, saying it could hurt the military.

“It would be a step in the wrong direction to force currently serving transgender individuals to leave the military solely on the basis of their gender identity rather than medical and readiness standards that should always be at the heart of Department of Defense personnel policy,” the Republican Arizona senator said in a statement released just before midnight.

“The Pentagon’s ongoing study on this issue should be completed before any decisions are made with regard to accession.”

Earlier in the evening, White House officials announced details of the military’s new transgender policy, broadly outlined by Trump in a series of tweets earlier this month.

A presidential memo sent to the Pentagon on Friday reverses the previous policy of allowing transgender individuals to serve openly and receive medical care for treatment of gender dysphoria or related issues.

Instead, Trump’s order directs that the Pentagon (and the Department of Homeland Security, in the case of Coast Guard personnel) halt the use of any funds for sex reassignment surgery, and bars entry of any transgender recruits into the services.

It also directs Defense Secretary Jim Mattis to determine whether currently service transgender personnel should be allowed to stay in the ranks, using “military effectiveness and lethality, budgetary constraints and applicable law” as standards for dismissal.

House Armed Services Committee ranking member Adam Smith, D-Wash., called the move “a cravenly opportunistic act of discrimination against men and women who volunteer to defend the United States.” Iraq War veteran Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., said the move will be “disruptive to our military” and harm unit readiness.

But as the senior Republican voice on military matters in Congress, McCain’s criticism carried more weight. The former Navy pilot and 30-year senator has sparred with Trump increasingly in recent weeks, including casting one of the deciding votes to shelve plans for a repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

McCain in his statement of opposition said the armed services committee will conduct oversight on the issue in weeks to come. Congress returns to Capitol Hill from a summer legislative recess in early September.

Mandatory prison or jail time for those looting, stealing and burglarizing during Hurricane Harvey

Nueces County District Attorney Mark A. Gonzalez today announced that his office will seek prison or jail time in each and every forthcoming case where the defendant stands charged with theft (looting), burglary, robbery, or any similar crime committed during Hurricane Harvey, vowing to "...do everything in my power to hold [them] accountable." Probation will neither be offered nor agreed to by Mr. Gonzalez's office in any of these cases.

As Hurricane Harvey rages on, the safety and peace of mind of Nueces County's fine citizens is of paramount importance. Taking advantage of citizens' perceived vulnerability at this time is particularly heinous and inexcusable, and will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Mr. Gonzalez and the entire District Attorney's Office staff implore citizens to continue heeding the counsel of the local, state, and federal authorities; to continue housing, feeding, and otherwise supporting each other throughout the continuation of the inclement weather; and to continue encouraging, supporting, and appreciating law enforcement and the brave first responders working around the clock to ensure our safety and security.

Insanity has now become the apocalypse

(Not much different than OWS)

First, there was this:

ESPN removes Robert Lee from calling Virginia game in Charlottesville due to his name

Yes, Loretta, they're virtually indistinguishable.

How far are they going to go? How about setting fire to the currency.

 One side depicts a racist.
The other uses the word "God" which is bound to offend somebody.
They despise Washington...but if you offered to take the bills off their hands you wouldn't get a one.

It gets worse:

Protesters now rally to REMOVE statue of Christopher Columbus from Manhattan after NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio said it was under review as a 'symbol of hate'

Memphis theater pulls Gone with the Wind after complaints that the Civil War classic is 'racially insensitive'

Our salvation... they sign up @ ancestry.com and discover their great-great-great-grandfather fought for the South and are now forced to repudiate their own existence or like lemmings commit mass suicide.
I prefer the latter.

Leave it to RINO McCain

McCain critical of president's pardon of Arpaio

President Donald Trump has tweeted about his pardon of the former sheriff of the Phoenix metro area, who was convicted of a misdemeanor contempt-of-court charge for defying a judge's orders that he stop conducting immigration patrols.

Ex-sheriff Joe Arapio was facing the prospect of jail time at his sentencing in October.

Trump tweeted that he was "pleased to inform you that I have just granted a full Pardon to 85-year-old American patriot Sheriff Joe Arpaio. He kept Arizona safe!"

U.S. Sen. John McCain the RINO of Arizona is voicing his displeasure at President Donald Trump’s pardon of the former Phoenix metro area sheriff Joe Arpaio, who was convicted of a misdemeanor contempt-of-court charge for defying a judge’s orders that he stop conducting immigration (rounding up illegals) patrols.

What I don't understand is this. If the assholes in AZ wanted a Republican to represent them... why did they keep sending McCain to DC?

Arapio was facing the prospect of jail time at his sentencing in October.

McCain says in a statement that "no one is above the law" and "sworn law officers should always seek to be beyond reproach in their commitment to fairly enforcing the laws they swore to uphold."

By pardoning Arpaio, McCain says it undermines Trump's claim for the respect of rule of law.

He also says Arpaio has shown no remorse for his actions.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs are supporting the presidential pardon of former metro Phoenix sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Ducey says Arpaio "deserves credit for helping to reduce crime in Maricopa County over his long career in law enforcement and public office."

He says Trump's pardon "has brought finality to this chapter in Arizona's history."

Ducey adds that Arpaio is his friend and now the 85-year-old ex-lawman can move on and enjoy his retirement with his wife and family.

Biggs says he applauds Trump for pardoning Arpaio and adds that "America owes Sheriff Arpaio a debt of gratitude and not the injustice of a political witch hunt."

RFK's son Max Kennedy and his daughter are arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct

Keeping the Kennedy tradition alive and well.

------------------------------------------

According to Barnstable Police Officer Armando Feliciano, who arrived at the scene just after 1am, the father-daughter duo 'incited...an angry mob' among members of the party.

Caroline, 23, reportedly refused to give police her information and admitted to being drunk while she was booked.

Her father, 52, was described to be 'sweating profusely' and had 'noticeably' blood-shot eyes.

They were charged with disturbing the peace and violating a noise ordinance. Both of the Kennedys were bailed out that same night.

Details of their arrests emerged a day after the father-daughter duo's mug shots were revealed.

Max Kennedy, 52, and his daughter, Caroline Kennedy, 22, were arrested early Sunday morning.

Nancy Pelosi's father helped dedicate Confederate monument

Time to remove the headstone from Pelosi's father's grave.

-------------------------------------

By Brooke Singman Published August 24, 2017

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has ramped up calls to remove "reprehensible" Confederate statues from the halls of Congress -- but left unsaid in her public denunciations is that her father helped dedicate such a statue decades ago while mayor of Baltimore.

It was May 2, 1948, when, according to a Baltimore Sun article from that day, “3,000” looked on as then-Governor William Preston Lane Jr. and Pelosi’s father, the late Thomas D’Alesandro Jr., spoke at the dedication of a monument to honor Confederate generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson.

The article said Lane delivered a speech, and Mayor D’Alesandro “accepted” the memorial.

“Today, with our nation beset by subversive groups and propaganda which seeks to destroy our national unity, we can look for inspiration to the lives of Lee and Jackson to remind us to be resolute and determined in preserving our sacred institutions,” D’Alesandro said in his dedication. “We must remain steadfast in our determination to preserve freedom, not only for ourselves but for the other liberty-loving nations who are striving to preserve their national unity as free nations.”

He added: “In these days of uncertainty and turmoil, Americans must emulate Jackson’s example and stand like a stone wall against aggression in any form that would seek to destroy the liberty of the world.”

[A 180 from her old man. Now you know why she refused to comment]

With President Trump cautioning that the drive to purge Confederate statues could represent a slippery slope, the White House has flagged Pelosi's family history as she fuels the statue opposition.

Counselor Kellyanne Conway tweeted an earlier article from RedAlertPolitics noting Pelosi's father's role.

"That's rich," she wrote.

Last week, more than a half century after Pelosi’s father honored the Lee-Jackson monument, it was removed from its post along with three other Confederate statues in Baltimore, according to the Baltimore Sun. The removal came as numerous monuments were removed, vandalized or otherwise being debated in the wake of the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., where a counter-protester was killed.

Pelosi’s office did not respond to Fox News’ request for comment on her father’s involvement with one of the Baltimore monuments.

Pelosi Statement on the Passing of Senator Robert Byrd

"Senator Robert Byrd’s extraordinary life has been shaped by service to his state, love of his country, and commitment to the common good. Throughout his historic career in the House and Senate, he never stopped working to improve the lives of the people of West Virginia. While some simply bore witness to history, Senator Byrd shaped it – and strove to build a brighter future for us all."

That was then. This is now.

Pelosi Calls for Removal of Confederate Statues From Capitol

Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement calling on Speaker Ryan to join Democrats in supporting legislation to remove Confederate statues from the Capitol:

-----------------------------

"The halls of Congress are the very heart of our democracy. The statues in the Capitol should embody our highest ideals as Americans, expressing who we are and who we aspire to be as a nation."

"The Confederate statues in the halls of Congress have always been reprehensible. If Republicans are serious about rejecting white supremacy, I call upon Speaker Ryan to join Democrats to remove the Confederate statues from the Capitol immediately."

"There is no room for celebrating the violent bigotry of the men of the Confederacy in the hallowed halls of the United States Capitol or in places of honor across the country."

------------------------------

Why is this suddenly a problem? When she was Speaker why didn't she act then? How is she going to handle Democrat Byrd's statue? Remember he was the one "who shaped history". He certainly did! If the Confederate statues have to come down certainly Byrd's statue, a former member of the KKK, would also have to get the axe.

Interesting to see how this works out.

ESPN pulling announcer Robert Lee off game 'a reflection of society'

MSESPN Pulls Asian Announcer Named Robert Lee Off UVA Game - Tucker Carlson

Former ESPN reporter Britt McHenry told Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Wednesday that the network's decision to remove announcer Robert Lee from play-by-play duty for a University of Virginia football game was "a reflection of society right now and how left-wing and PC it's gotten."

"Even your name given at birth or the possibility of a meme on the Internet is a reason to make a personnel change," said McHenry. "I mean, if that’s what we’re doing here … everyone might be out of a job, especially in this industry."

ESPN confirmed late Tuesday that it decided to switch Lee, who is Asian, to another game in response to this month's violence at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville that killed one woman and injured dozens of others. The network's statement said it made the decision after consulting with Lee, adding "In that moment it felt right to all parties."

Wednesday night, ESPN President John Skipper sent a memo to employees stating the network was concerned that Lee's presence in the booth for Virginia's game against William & Mary "might create a distraction, or even worse, expose him to social hectoring and trolling." Skipper added that Lee himself had "expressed some personal trepidation about the assignment."

"This isn’t the type of attention you want on the national scene," McHenry told host Tucker Carlson. "Obviously, we know who [Lee] is now, but now these pictures, once the 24-hour news cycle goes away, he’s gonna be associated with Robert E. Lee and they’re superimposed together."

McHenry, who worked for ESPN from 2014 until she was laid off earlier this year, has been an outspoken critic of the self-proclaimed "Worldwide Leader in Sports." In June, she implied in a since-deleted tweet that she was let go from the network for her conservative political views.

McHenry has also criticized NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick for his refusal to stand for the "The Star-Spangled Banner," as well as NBA star Kevin Durant for saying he wouldn't go to the White House to meet President Trump with the Golden State Warriors.

"I just think that this climate really is sending the wrong message," McHenry said, adding that "a lot of Americans are sick of being labeled a bigot if they don’t agree with whatever is on the left with some of these athletes and agendas."

"Stonewall" Jackson and Robert E. Lee murdered Heather Heyer

The statue of Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson was covered in Charlottesville on Wednesday(Mark Wilson)

Two Confederate statues in Charlottesville, Va., were covered with a black tarp on Wednesday as the city mourns the death of a woman killed protesting a white nationalist rally.

Workers in cherry pickers shrouded the monument of Gen. Robert E. Lee in Emancipation Park before moving on to the statue of Gen. Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson in nearby Justice Park.

Some of the onlookers cheered, and Jame Dyer said, “It’s a good start. They do have to go, but it’s a start, and I’m glad the city has finally recognized it has to happen on some level.”

Not everyone was pleased, however. John Miska, who had a gun strapped to his leg approached the Lee statue and began cutting the tarp with a knife, the Daily Progress reported.

Police asked him to stop, and Miska complied before he addressed the crowd and called the covering a “desecration”.

He pointed to Lee and said, “We need him to be here so that we can point at him and say he fought for the side that lost.”

The city council voted to cover the statues after residents packed the chamber, screaming and cursing the councilors for their response to the rally.

Neo-Nazis, KKK members, skinheads and other white nationalist factions descended on Charlottesville on Aug. 12 for the Unite the Right rally.

James Alex Fields Jr. allegedly drove his car into a crowd of demonstrators, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer who was there to protest the event.

The rally was first sparked by the city council’s vote earlier this year to take down Lee statue.

A judge issued an injunction preventing the city from removing it, and a hearing is schedule for Sept. 1.

The Charlottesville rally and the deadly violence that broke out has renewed the debate over Confederate monuments and their prominence around the country.

FBI has 'reopened' case on search for Lynch-Clinton tarmac meeting records

Now before you get too optimistic remember the FBI and the Republican track record when it comes to this matter. Did someone say "matter"?

Benghazi
IRS scandal
Clinton Email scandal

Firey Trey Gowdy, Jim Jordan, Darrell Issa and company, and who could forget Comey's performance, proved their bark is worse than their bite. In all 3 of the scandals, not one person went to jail, one almost became president! Like the old Rolex ad stated:

[The true test of achievement is result]

And so far Republicans with all their bluster haven't shown me jack shit.

----------------------------------------------

The FBI has "reopened" its consideration of a request for records on the infamous 2016 tarmac meeting between then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former President Bill Clinton, the group behind that request told Fox News.

American Center for Law and Justice President Jay Sekulow called the development a “positive sign,” in an interview Wednesday on “Fox & Friends.”

Sekulow said the FBI sent him a letter saying it had reopened his Freedom of Information Act request for documents related to the June 2016 meeting. At first, the FBI and DOJ said they did not have documents detailing the tarmac meet-up, before recently releasing a batch of emails. They are now searching for more records.

“While we appreciate that the FBI has ‘reopened’ the case file and is now ‘searching’ for documents responsive to our duly submitted FOIA request from more than a year ago, it stretches the bounds of credulity to suggest that the FBI bureaucracy just discovered that ‘potentially responsive’ records ‘may exist’ on its own accord,” Sekulow said in a written statement.

FBI’s newest letter to the ACLJ – dated one week after the government watchdog group accused the government of lying to them about the existence of records – now states that “records potentially responsive to your request may exist.”

Last week, ACLJ released 400 emails from the initial batch they received. The documents revealed that Lynch used an email alias to discuss the secret meeting that took place between her and Clinton and that DOJ staffers were concerned about the optics of the situation.

The tarmac meeting fueled Republican complaints at the time that Lynch had improperly met with the husband of an investigation subject, Hillary Clinton, just before the probe into her personal email use was completed with no charges filed.

A week after the meeting, then-FBI Director James Comey called Clinton’s actions “extremely careless” but did not recommend charges. The criminal investigation was closed and then briefly re-opened in October just days before the 2016 presidential election.

Sekulow, who also serves on President Trump’s legal team, said the ACLJ will continue to “press on in our legal fight to ensure that the details of the secret Clinton-Lynch meeting and the subsequent cover-up and withholding of information from the public comes to light.”

He added that his organization will continue to “legally hold the FBI’s feet to the fire” and said he is “willing to go to court to get (the records) if necessary.”

The conservative group Judicial Watch also has clashed with the DOJ, after receiving similar documents it complained were "heavily redacted."

In response to those complaints, a Justice Department spokesperson referred Fox News to a letter sent by the DOJ Office of Information Policy on Aug. 1, 2017 to Judicial Watch explaining their decision to maintain redacted materials.

The letter explains that those sections pertain to “certain inter- and intra-agency communications protected by the deliberative process privilege, and information release of which would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of the personal privacy of third parties.”

A Justice spokesperson told Fox News that decisions to claim the deliberative process exemption are routine.

In his June testimony, Comey cited concerns with Lynch's handling of the Clinton investigation. Comey told lawmakers that Lynch directed him to describe the email probe as a “matter” and not an “investigation.”

Comey said the tarmac meeting was a “deciding factor” in his decision to act alone to update the public on the Clinton probe—and protect the bureau’s reputation.

Really...I'm still reeling from his blistering dissertation then finished it off with.

"No reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case."
