Top Senate Dems urge Obama to take unilateral action on debt ceiling

Don't be surprised if he doesn't try to take unilateral action on your guns too! I thought his middle initial "H" stood for Hussein. But now it has morphed into  Hugo.

Only in the minds of this asshole administration would we even be discussing a trillion dollar coin. It's worth a trillion dollars? Based on what? Barry says it is?

This is classic Obamanomics. More smoke and mirrors. Like stealing from Medicare to pay for Obamacare. This latest stunt could backfire in his face. Moody's has already threatened a downgrade. Now that Barry has raised taxes on the wealthy, and middle income people who were to stupid to realize it, by raising the debt ceiling and bypassing Congress, a downgrade is almost a certainty. This will put Barry in a new light. One, by circumventing Congress (not the first time) he set in stone his legacy as the new Chavez. Two, he will be the only president in our Nation's history to ever receive a downgrade, not one but two, while they were at the helm. And he will achieved this with less then 5 years in office. What a distinction!

Pretty soon we'll need China to co-sign to buy Barry another vacation.

$10.6 trillion at the time. Now look at it!

And another is on the way!

WASHINGTON – If President Obama were to break the impasse with Republicans over raising the debt limit by taking unilateral action, such a move would have the potential to set off a firestorm of controversy and spark a protracted legal battle.

Top Senate Democrats say, go for it.

The White House has dismissed talk that Obama would rely on unusual measures to raise the nation's debt limit without Congress' approval, but administration officials also have warned that the country could default on its debt and trigger a new economic crisis if lawmakers don't increase the limit on borrowing.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., is among those urging Obama to consider options like invoking the 14th Amendment to the Constitution to find ways around the $16.4 trillion legal cap on government borrowing. The amendment states that the "validity of the public debt of the United States ... shall not be questioned," which some lawmakers believe permits a way out of the debt limit jam.

The government hit the debt limit last month and is juggling the books to buy additional time for Congress to act. But those moves only buy a few weeks of wiggle room, which requires Congress to act -- likely by mid- to late-February -- to avoid a market-quaking default on U.S. obligations.

The White House has said emphatically that it does not believe that the 14th Amendment permits Obama to ignore the debt cap on U.S. borrowing, though it considered the question during the 2011 debt crisis.

"There is no Plan B. There is no backup plan," White House spokesman Jay Carney said Wednesday. "There is no alternative to Congress raising the debt ceiling."

A letter to Obama on Friday from Reid and Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Patty Murray, D-Wash., doesn't mention the 14th Amendment, but aides to the senators said that's what they have in mind in urging the president to consider unilateral action.

"We believe you must be willing to take any lawful steps to ensure that America does not break its promises and trigger a global economic crisis -- without congressional approval, if necessary," the letter said.

Battling House and Senate leaders have made virtually no progress on a strategy for legislation to lift the debt cap. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, insists that any debt increase be matched by equivalent spending cuts. Obama, buoyed by his re-election victory, says he won't negotiate as he did in 2011, when he traded a $2.1 trillion debt increase for tight spending limits on agency budgets and automatic, across-the-board spending cuts if a congressional "supercommittee" failed to reach a budget agreement.

"Senate Democrats cannot ignore their responsibilities for political convenience -- and the American people will not tolerate an increase in the debt limit without spending cuts and reforms," said Boehner spokesman Michael Steel.

The impasse has people on both sides scratching their heads over how it will be resolved. The anxiety is such that some on the left are urging Obama to mint a coin worth perhaps $1 trillion to be deposited at the Federal Reserve and drawn upon to meet government obligations.

Delusions of grandeur

Should have put Barry on here.

According to the second most dumb doofus in command Barry is considering using executive privilege to ban guns in some form. He feels embolden after the election; perhaps enough to believe he has the authority to abolish the 2nd Amendment.

What is scary, Biden is in control or at the very least, giving advice on who should own guns. What could be worse?

Oh yes… you guessed it… the involvement of the ACLU... But wait... If I didn't know better I would have thought they had lockjaw. They have said zilch. Why? These bastards are between the proverbial rock and a hard place! Their natural instinct...side with Barry. Yet their very name screeches "civil liberties".
What to do?
Solution:
Assert the 2nd Amendment never said what it actually said.
Mark my words.

Take a look at these three. Do they appear to be  predisposed to following the law?

As far as I can tell none of them had a criminal record prior to their acts of violence.

Taking this in consideration when we buy a gun maybe some of the pertinent questions should be.

Have you seen a psychiatrist in the last 7 years?
If so why?

Have you ever been treated for any mental disorder?

Are you currently taking medication for any mental condition?
Have you ever taken medication for any mental condition
Follow this up with some sort of a data bank similar to the ones they have with convicted felons.

Except for what I just indicated this whole gun control debate is a fallacy. It's estimated they are 200 to 300 million guns in America. Millions of these guns date back to the 1960's and far earlier... WW2 and WW1.. long before we had strict gun laws. Another thing about a gun. Properly cleaned and oiled it will last indefinitely. Lets be practical. Our government can't find the intestinal fortitude to get rid of 12 million illegals. How in the hell are they going to get rid of 300 million guns?

The end result of more government intervention?

Law abiding citizens will find it increasingly more difficult to own a gun.

Status quo for the criminal.

1 in 4 Children on Food Stamps

In 1970 it was 1 out of 50.

I'm not trying to make this more complicated then it really is. Liberals prefer to call this "progressivism". Other words which could be substituted are reform and change. As in "I am going to fundamentally change America". Is this what most Americans bargained for? 1 out of 4 children on Food Stamps? You know, although we're not perfect it seemed to be working out pretty good... the most powerful nation in the world and all.
Why would you want to change that?

Fundamentally is deep down at the heart. Brings to mind Gordon Gekko's "Greed is good" speech. What better way for liberals to appeal to the masses then by using their own basic instincts against them? In principle the more people collect the more they rely on government. The more they rely on government the more Democrats can rely on their vote. Lincoln a white Republican freed the slaves. Yet for all intense and purposes, in the party freeing the slaves, there are no black Republicans. Why is that? Because Democrats take your tax dollars to buy them free stuff securing their vote in the process.  Yes, it is that simple.

Robbed blind and to their own detriment most middle-income Americans sit on their ass and take it. The old adage... When you rob Peter to pay Paul you can always expect the support of Paul...flies over their head like a soundless airliner at 36,000 feet.

 The year 2016

New data show 1 in 4 children on food stamps in FY 2011

Posted By Caroline May, The Daily Caller

One in four children in America participated in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamps, in fiscal year 2011, according to data from the United States Department of Agriculture and U.S. Census Bureau.

The USDA's "Characteristics of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Households: Fiscal Year 2011" shows that in 2011, 19.9 million children, or people under 18, received food stamp benefits.

The Census estimates there were 73.9 million children living in the United States in 2011, meaning that 26.9 percent of children, or approximately one in four, were on food stamps in 2011.

The USDA notes that children constituted 45 percent of SNAP participants in 2011. Some philanthropists and policy experts believe efforts to reform SNAP because of high youth enrollment are misguided, arguing that the program ultimately helps the economy and improve kids' health.

But Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions — one of the most vocal critics of the recent skyrocketing SNAP enrollment numbers and USDA's promotion of the benefit — contends that something must be done about government policies and a USDA that he says is more interested in enrolling Americans in the program than finding real solutions.

"It has become sadly clear that Agriculture Secretary Vilsack wishes to make welfare part of the normal American experience, with no regard for social or economic consequences. How else can you explain why he gave an award to a recruitment worker for overcoming the 'mountain pride' of rural Americans?" Sessions told The Daily Caller, recalling one of the many outreach efforts the USDA has engaged in over the years to get more people on SNAP. (RELATED: USDA suggests people host food stamp parties to boost SNAP enrollment)

Indeed, the trajectory of the food stamp program has in recent years been up — with spending on the program doubling in the last four years and quadrupling since 2001. Approximately 15.5 million additional recipients have been added to the SNAP rolls since the beginning of 2009.

The most recent national SNAP participation numbers were released Friday for the month of October, coming in at 47.5 million participants, or about 1 in 6.5 Americans. In the 1970s, 1 out of every 50 Americans participated in the program.

Mel Reynolds, ex-congressman and jailbird, bids to replace Jesse Jackson Jr.

This story is unbelievable. People in this district are so damn stupid they deserve what they get. Their willingness to accept only one who is both black and a Democrat is testament to their own demise. Yet they'll defend this action to their last dying breath. Oh…and having a record is an added benefit. The last 3 all had their legal difficulties.

PS: Like to have been a fly on the wall as Rev Jackson was consoling Clinton on extramarital affairs. Talk about the pot...

Three strikes and you're out.

Strike One

Rep. Gus Savage (D)

In office
January 3, 1981 – January 3, 1993

Condemned by the House Ethics Committee for sexual misconduct for having an affair with a Peace Corps volunteer while visiting Zaire on official business.

Strike Two

 Rep. Mel Reynolds (D)

In office
January 3, 1993 – October 1, 1995

Convicted of statutory rape in October 1995 for having sex with a 16 year-old campaign staffer. He was also convicted of soliciting child pornography. He was subsequently convicted of federal financial and campaign finance fraud charges while in jail.

Strike 3

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr (D)

In office
December 12, 1995 – November 21, 2012

Junior was forced to resign after the FBI had been looking at Jackson's alleged use of campaign funds to decorate his home and to buy a $40,000 Rolex watch for a female friend. The investigation into misused campaign funds has now expanded to include Jackson's wife, Chicago Alderman Sandi Jackson, according to reports. Investigators are scrutinizing whether Mrs. Jackson was aware of or complicit in her husband's alleged misuse of campaign money. Investigators have not yet indicated whether they plan to charge Sandi Jackson. I am convinced he was more involved in the Blago situation then we were led to believe. Incredibly ... while all this was going on he was reelected!!!

The people in this district have a uncanny ability to pick losers. They're either incredibly unlucky or just plain stupid. I suspect there is a third possibility. You guess what it is. Hint. When was the last time the Illinois second congressional district had a white Republican representative? Try 1951 to 1953. Voters mantra...We see only black.

You would think with their track record the electorate may entertain the thought of  looking at some alternatives. My take from this? They pay strict adherence in conforming to Einstein's definition of insanity following it to the T.

Then again what do I know? For all these years I thought a "Hoe" was a garden tool.

Another farce in the making

Don’t call it a comeback! Actually, I guess you can since he’s spent time in jail. Either way, former Rep. Mel Reynolds, D-Ill., was among the 22 people who have filed to run for Rep. Jesse Jackson’s, D-Ill., now-open House seat. Jackson resigned amid a federal ethics investigation, an adultery scandal and an admitted mental health problem.

Don’t remember Mel Reynolds? Well, he represented the Illinois second congressional district prior to Jackson, from 1993 to 1995. He had to take some time off after he was convicted of statutory rape in October 1995 for having sex with a 16 year-old campaign staffer. He was also convicted of soliciting child pornography. He was subsequently convicted of federal financial and campaign finance fraud charges while in jail.

Reynolds had a dodgy history even before the convictions. By 1993, he had been sued 16 times according to Cook County court records for writing bad checks. Seven of the lawsuits resulted in judgments of $53,552. He also defaulted on two Harvard University loans, totaling $18,000. When a magazine began researching his financial background, Reynolds tried to lure the reporter off his trail by saying should instead be investigating another unnamed black member of Congress who, he claimed, hadn’t paid child support in 10 years.

His sentence was commuted by President Clinton in 2001, an action that was arranged by … Jesse Jackson Sr. (Jackson and Clinton had become close after Jackson “mentored” Clinton after his sex scandal with intern Monica Lewinsky. Jackson Senior was undoubtedly sympathetic, having had his own problems in this regard.)

Reynolds has been aiming to regain his old seat for years. He lost a 2004 primary bid to Jackson junior 89-6 percent. Still he remains optimistic, telling the Chicago Tribune his campaign theme is “redemption” and that wants voters to allow him to “finish the work” he started. His signs say “Re-Elect Reynolds.” According to the Tribune:

Reynolds sought to downplay his previous convictions, contending “it was almost 18, 20 years ago” and that his past crimes “shouldn’t be a life sentence.”

“The fact of the matter is, nobody’s perfect,” Reynolds said, adding that voters should “look at the entire history of me,” including what people do “after they make mistakes.” Reynolds, however, stopped short of acknowledging guilt for any of his crimes.

Reynolds may indeed have a second chance. There is something about Illinois’s second district. Reynolds won his seat after defeating Rep. Gus Savage, who had been condemned by the House Ethics Committee for sexual misconduct for having an affair with a Peace Corps volunteer while visiting Zaire on official business.
