Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh's son came out as gay to his father in the wake of Donald Trump's election win because he was 'scared'

Another reason to hate Michigan. Not only is Harbaugh's son a fruit... worse yet he was a Bernie supporter.

----------------------------------

James Harbaugh Jr., the son of Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh, came out to his father after President Donald Trump's election win last November and received an uplifting response.

'I just it blurted out – and told him for the first time verbatim – 'Dad, I'm gay. Do you know that?' James told the Two Outs podcast this week. 'And because of that, this is why X,Y, Z. I'm scared because of this, that and the other.

'And he just said something else back, it was an encouraging and uplifting response about how you just need to keep your head up,' James continued. '"As long as you do what you feel is right in your mind, you live your truth, everything will end up being OK."'

James Jr. (left) and Jim Harbaugh (right) caught the eclipse at Michigan Stadium in August

James currently attends University of Michigan's School of Music, Theatre & Dance, where he is working towards his BFA in directing.

The son, grandson, and nephew of football coaches, James said that he never felt out of place on the field or around the players.

'I think there was an obvious sense of feeling out-of-place in society in general,' James said. 'But I never felt aware of being uncomfortable around my dad's teams. If anything, I was way more self-aware of the fact that I was a mouse at 6-foot-1, compared to these 6-foot-5 giants when I would try and eat in their meal sessions at away games. I was more concerned about being stepped on than my sexuality.'
As long as you do what you feel is right in your mind, you live your truth, everything will end up being OK.

James also credited his father with introducing him to musical theater when the family lived in the Bay Area while Jim coached Stanford's football team and, later, the San Francisco 49ers.

'In 2005, when he was at Stanford, he took the family — my sister, stepmom and I — we went and saw 'Wicked' in San Francisco,' said James. 'I was blown away by it. I was probably 12 at the time. I remember thinking, "Wow, this is so incredible. I would love to be a part of something that makes people feel this way, something that feels so magical and amazing."'

The 53-year-old Jim has a 44–22–1 record as an NFL coach and an 82-33 mark in the collegiate ranks.

James Harbaugh Jr. (left) seen here supporting the Baltimore Ravens, an NFL team coached by his uncle John. James's father Jim and grandfather Jack are also football coaches.

I'm sure Harbaugh Sr. never saw it coming.
No really...

As a player, he was known for quarterbacking the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts to the playoffs.

Since following his own father into the coaching ranks, Jim has routinely been ridiculed for his preference for khakis – a fashion choice he seems to make regardless of the weather or occasion.

'They're hideous,' James joked.

Wouldn't be tossing the word 'hideous' around considering his lifestyle.

'You see him on the field and doing interviews,' James continued. 'But he comes home, and it's full-on. He's still wearing them, sometimes. And then if he ever varies from it, it will be equally as bad. He'll have on a full-on sweatsuit, and then his Crocs with socks. There's no better alternative. You almost want him to go back to the khakis.'

The Michigan Wolverines are currently 4-0 heading into Saturday's matchup with the rival Michigan State Spartans.

I knew they would try to pin this on Trump

The MSM couldn't resist linking Trump with the mass murderer Stephen Craig Paddock

This is a photo and caption of Christopher Sullivan one of the gun shop owners who sold some of the guns to Paddock.

Sullivan is pictured posing with a cutout of US President Donald Trump

It's about as accurate as this one... after he met his maker... killed by a "white" Hispanic.

He turned out worse than his old man!

Maybe that was his motive. To one-up his father?

Have to believe his live-in girlfriend, who is conveniently out of the country, knows more than she's letting on.

--------------------------------

Las Vegas gunman's father 'Big Daddy' was one of the FBI's Top Ten most wanted and escaped federal prison then spent a DECADE on the run

The father of the Las Vegas shooter was an FBI most-wanted bank robber and confidence man known as 'Big Daddy,' who was captured by in Las Vegas in 1960 - then escaped and lived on the run for a decade.

Stephen Paddock – the shooter who killed at least 50 in the Sunday night massacre – was just seven years old and living in Arizona when his father Benjamin Paddock was nabbed in Las Vegas by the FBI for a series of bank robberies in 1960.

At the time, Stephen's mother tried desperately to shield her young son and his three siblings from the devastating news that their father was living a double life as a bank robber and con-man.

Mugshot: This was the FBI's most wanted list's image of Paddock after his escape from prison. His nicknames included 'Big Daddy' and 'Chromedome' and he had a series of aliases

When FBI agents raided young Stephen's home in Tucson after his father's arrest, his mother took the boy swimming nearby.

'We're trying to keep Steve from knowing his father is held as a bank robber,' a neighbor told the Tucson Daily Citizen on July 29, 1960. 'I hardly know the family, but Steve is a nice boy. It's a terrible thing.'

Benjamin's friends and neighbors in Arizona were said to be shocked by his secret life of crime before his 1960 arrest.

Benjamin was known around Tucson as a big-hearted garbage disposal salesman who volunteered to as a 'special deputy' with the local police department, according to news reports at the time.

Armed and suicidal: Stephen Paddock took his own life after perpetrating the worst gun massacre in US history

But he was also responsible for at least four armed bank robberies in a two-year span in the Phoenix area, stealing a total of $30,000. He was reportedly armed during the holdups and drove stolen cars.

The law finally caught up with Benjamin in Las Vegas in July 1960, hundreds of miles from his home in Tucson.

After FBI agents surrounded Benjamin in downtown Vegas, he jumped into his car and tried to run one of them over. But an agent shot through his windshield, forcing Benjamin to stop and surrender.

A loaded pistol, a blackjack, and cash were found in his car, according to a news report from the time.

Benjamin was sentenced to 20 years in jail for the bank robbery, confidence crime, forgery and auto theft – but he didn't stay locked up for long.

He broke out of the Federal Correctional Institution at La Tuna, Texas on New Years' Eve of 1968. His escape landed him a top spot on the FBI's Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitives List, which described him as 'armed and extremely dangerous.'

A Washington Post article in 1975 described his presence on the list as an embarrassment but he was removed from the list in 1977.

On the run: How the Tucson Citizen reported Stephen Paddock's father making the FBI's Top Ten most wanted list in 1969

After breaking out of prison, Benjamin began using the alias 'Benjamin Erickson' and 'Bruce Erickson' - an amalgam of two of his children's names.

He moved to Oregon where he restyled himself as the 'Bingo King of the State.'

He was finally recaptured by the FBI in September 1978, after the feds found him while they were staking out a Springfield bingo center.

They had been tipped off by an article in a local newspaper profiling the big-hearted bingo operator who was giving the proceeds - at least so he said - to a women's charity.

After an escape conviction, Benjamin appears to have been released on parole in April 1979.

His last listed address is in Springfield, Oregon and it is unclear if he has passed away. If alive, he would be 90 years old.

In 1990, syndicated columnists Amy Wallace and David Wallechinsky reported that Paddock had spent the tenth-longest time on the list since its inception in 1950.

Described as a 'glib, arrogant, smooth-talking 'confidence man,' the hulking and bald Benjamin went by a number of different aliases over the years – including the nicknames 'Chromedome' and 'Old Baldy.'

A report on the FBI Wanted List described him as smoking cigars and cigarettes and enjoying steaks, desserts, gambling, TV, and baseball.

Before his arrest for bank robbery, Benjamin was also vice president of a local 'hot-rodder' club in Tucson. He was known to hang around a young crowd at a local nightclub, where he went by the nickname 'Big Daddy.'

Neighbors and friends told the local paper that there was no evidence of Benjamin's double life of crime.

'He seemed like the average middle-class businessman, devoted to his home and family,' a neighbor told the Tucson Daily Citizen after his arrest.

Even the local sheriff was stunned by the arrest, having brought Benjamin onto the police force as a volunteer deputy.

'It was quite a surprise,' said Sherriff Waldon Burr to the Tucson Daily Citizen. 'He bulged with sincerity.'

They're not even cold yet and the bitch is already attacking the NRA

Hillary makes Vegas shooting political by attacking the National Rifle Association as she expresses condolences for victims

Hillary Clinton led the Democratic charge for gun control measures in the hours after a shooter in Las Vegas left more than 50 dead.

'Our grief isn't enough. We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again,' the former Democratic nominee for president said.

She called out the National Rifle Association for backing legislation that would make it easier for Americans to purchase gun silencers.

Hillary Clinton was the first high-profile Democrat to lash out at the National Rifle Association in the aftermath of last night's mass casualty Las Vegas shooting

Hillary Clinton started by offering condolences but then turned to the National Rifle Association in her Monday morning tweets

She took particular issue with the NRA trying to get it made easier to purchase silencers in several states

'The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots,' Clinton noted.

'Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get,' she said.

Last night's shooting is already the deadliest in modern American history, outranking last summer's Pulse nightclub shooting that left 49 and the gunman dead.

Clinton had started her tweets by offering typical condolences.

'Las Vegas, we are grieving with you—the victims, those who lost loved ones, the responders, & all affected by this cold-blooded massacre,' she wrote.

But then pivoted and took on the NRA.

While Democrats are generally on board with such measures, so far Democrats like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and former President Barack Obama haven't smacked the high-profile gun lobbying group.

In a morning statement, Pelosi simply offered prayers and strong words.

'Horrified and heartbroken by the awful tragedy in #LasVegas last night. Praying for those lost, wounded & waiting for news from loved ones,' the top House Democrat also tweeted.

Her counterpart in the US Senate made a similar statement.

'Deeply saddened for the people of Las Vegas and the country. We will keep the victims & their families in our hearts,' tweeted Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

'I commend the Las Vegas 1st responders, the SWAT team & the regular ppl who acted quickly & saved lives. Thank you,' the Senate minority leader added.

President Obama, who pushed for better gun control measures in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook massacre, and also guided the nation through the Pulse nightclub massacre, which had been the most bloody until now, also left the NRA out of it.

'Michelle & I are praying for the victims in Las Vegas. Our thoughts are with their families & everyone enduring another senseless tragedy,' the ex-president tweeted.

OJ Simpson 'going to get the latest iPhone' upon prison release

Imagine you're Fred and Kim Goldman reading about 'poor OJ'

What get's me is OJ's kids. Are they so stupid not to believe he killed their mother? Or is it because they don't care?

It's been 23 years. When will the 'real' murderer ever be caught?

-------------------------------------------

After nine years in prison O.J. Simpson could have to wait "a few days" beyond his earliest eligible release date to leave the Nevada Department of Corrections facility, his attorney said.

Simpson was granted parole at a hearing on July 20, and the earliest date he is eligible for release is Oct. 1.

But Simpson's attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, told ABC News his client's departure from prison may be delayed a few days by the need for transportation.

"October 1st falls on a Sunday and except for essential workers, I think it’s going to be highly unlikely that the Nevada Department of Corrections is going to have any type of resources to be able to transport Mr. Simpson anywhere," LaVergne said. "Mr. Simpson’s making arrangements. He has to go through the Nevada Department of Corrections, the Nevada Department of Parole and Probation and at some point very soon he will eventually have his release plans and he will be able to get out."

"He wants to go to Florida, he wants to see his family and hug his family on the outside of prison. He wants to eat seafood; he wants to eat steak. He wants to enjoy the very simple pleasures that he hasn't enjoyed in nine years. I spoke to him. He's going to get the latest iPhone ... So he wants to enjoy those very simple pleasures, and he wants to do that in Florida."

Tom Scotto, one of Simpson’s longtime friends who has visited him in prison frequently, told ABC News Simpson "is going to live his life.”

“All he wants to do is spend time with his family and friends and his kids. And play a little golf,” Scotto said.

Simpson has been held in isolation at the prison for safety reasons since the parole decision on July 20, and according to LaVergne, has been "bored out of his mind."

"It was not a good situation. Mr. Simpson is very much a people person, enjoyed all the privileges of the general population the entire time he was there," LaVergne explained. "That quick change really did do him in for about a month or so, in terms of the boredom level, but as time's gone on and he's making the arrangements to get out -- last night he was very excited and sounds very upbeat so I'm anticipating that he's in very good spirits now."
OJ Simpson 'bored to tears' in prison after being granted parole, lawyer says
Ron Goldman's family on OJ Simpson's getting parole: 'It was very disappointing'

A cure for that would have been the electric chair on the first go around.

Once Simpson is released LaVergne said that while there is some concern that he may be chased by paparazzi, he believes the Nevada Department of Corrections will plan for Simpson's safety during transit.

"That is a concern of mine, and it really is the ultimate concern of the Nevada Department of Corrections because they’re the ones who are going to have to properly get this thing done with Mr. Simpson," LaVergne said. "I do believe that all these things are being done for Mr. Simpson’s safety concerns so that we don’t have these chases, we don’t have helicopters and we don’t have all these things."

Fred and Kim Goldman, the father and sister of Ron Goldman -- who was killed with the former football star’s wife, Nicole Brown Simpson – have said they are disappointed with the decision to grant Simpson parole. The Goldman's said in a statement that they will continue pursuing the civil judgment against Simpson awarded to their family, an amount they say has grown to $60 million.

But LaVergne said that "doesn't matter."

"It might as well be $6 billion, it just doesn't matter ... This is why you don't sue judgment-proof people in private-party civil lawsuits." the attorney said. "They can do whatever they want ... That doesn't affect Mr. Simpson's life; it doesn’t affect my life. And as long as they limit their conduct to collecting on lawsuits and getting their media publicity, I'm fine with that."

Now only 39 per cent of black people now think OJ Simpson was innocent - compared to 69 per cent 20-years ago

39% is not a far cry from 50.

Guess they can't comprehend the slew of 911 calls, the bloody glove, the blood in his car, the blood spatter on his socks, and of course, he would never wear his words, "Those ugly ass shoes" referring to the Bruno Magli shoes... that was until this photo was discovered.

 39% of blacks are not stupid. It's just that they think with their skin instead of their brain.

----------------------------------------

Only 39 percent of black people now think O.J. Simpson was not guilty in 1995, compared to the 69 percent who thought so at the time.

The vast decrease in the African American community's belief in his innocence in the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman was found in a survey done for CBS News.

The news comes with the recent announcement that O.J. Simpson could be released on parole as soon as Monday in Las Vegas under a plan being finalized by Nevada officials.

Simpson's release is expected after nine years behind bars for his 2008 armed robbery and kidnapping convictions following a confrontation with two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel room.

The study also found that only 27 percent of people think he will regain celebrity status.

65 percent believe he will be mostly ignored.

The number of people overall who believe that he killed the two in 1994 has also increased, going from 67 percent to 71 percent.

It also found that both Black people believed the case was determined by race at a rate of 44 percent compared to 39 percent who believed by merit of the case.

This compares to 37 percent of whites who think the case was decided by race and 41 percent who believe by merit.

In terms of ages following the trial, the study found that two-thirds of adults 45 and older followed along.

Nine in 10 Americans under 30 and roughly 50 percent of 30 to 44-year-old folks did not follow along or were too young.

Before the verdict, most Americans believed the U.S. criminal justice system treated blacks fairly. About half of Black people felt that way.

Today, eight in 10 Black people and four in 10 whites believe that the system is biased against blacks.

Elementary school librarian REJECTS First Lady Melania Trump's donation of Dr. Seuss books because they are 'tired and cliche'

Well now. Wonder what she would have said had Michelle Obama sent the very same books? Let me guess.

~~~What a wonderful gesture by the First Lady. Cambridgeport Elementary School  salutes her for providing classic children's literature to our school for all to enjoy~~~
Thank You, Michelle Obama.
 Soeiro in 2015
-----------------------------------------
School librarian Liz Phipps Soeiro (pictured) rejected books donated by First Lady Melania Trump on Thursday
A librarian at a Massachusetts elementary school has declined nearly a dozen books donated by Melania Trump, calling them 'tired' and 'cliche.'
The White House earlier this month announced that one school from each state would receive a shipment of Dr. Seuss books as part of National Read a Book Day.
Along with the donation came a letter from the First Lady, which emphasized to students that receiving 'an education is perhaps the most important and wondrous opportunity of your young lives'.
'Remember,' the letter says, 'the key to achieving your dreams begins with learning to read. Find what you enjoy, anything that interests you, and read about it.'
'Never stop learning and challenging yourself, and never give up on your dreams,' the letter concludes.
But Cambridgeport Elementary School librarian Liz Phipps Soeiro, whose school represents Massachusetts in the initiative, said on Thursday that her award-winning library wasn't in need of the literature.
The First Lady's gesture was part of White House initiative dubbed 'National Read a Book Day' (Pictured: May 25, 2017)
'My students have access to a school library with over nine thousand volumes and a librarian with a graduate degree in library science,' Phipps Soeiro wrote in an open letter on the Horn Book blog website.
'Multiple studies show that schools with professionally staffed libraries improve student performance,' she added.
Phipps Soeiro also criticized the First Lady's choice in books, which included 'The Cat in the Hat,' 'One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish,' 'The Foot Book,' 'Green Eggs and Ham' and 'Oh, the Places You'll Go!,' CBS Boston reported.
'You may not be aware of this, but Dr. Seuss is a bit of a cliché, a tired and worn ambassador for children's literature. As First Lady of the United States, you have an incredible platform with world-class resources at your fingertips,' she wrote.
The elementary school employee also took a jab at the Trump administration's education policy, specifically striking out against Betsy DaVos.
'Why not go out of your way to gift books to underfunded and underprivileged communities that continue to be marginalized and maligned by policies put in place by Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos?' she wrote.
Phipps Soeiro continues by claiming that 'cities like Philadelphia, Chicago, and Detroit are suffering through expansion privatization, and school "choice" with no interest in outcomes of children, their families, their teachers and their schools.'
She then asks: 'Are those kids any less deserving of books simply because of circumstances beyond their control?'
The White House later responded to Soeiro's remarks in a statement to NBC Boston.
'Mrs. Trump intends to use her platform as First Lady to help as many children as she can,' said Stephanie Grisham, the first lady's communications director.
'She has demonstrated this in both actions and words since her husband took office, and sending books to schools across the country is but one example.
'Turning the gesture of sending young school children books into something divisive is unfortunate, but the First Lady remains committed to her efforts on behalf of children everywhere.'
The school district later said that Phipps Soeiro 'was not authorized to accept or reject donated books on behalf of the school or school district,' adding that her opinions do not reflect that of the school system.
'We have counseled the employee on all relevant policies, including the policy against public resources being used for political purposes,' the district wrote in a statement.
‘Blacktivist’ social media accounts linked to Russian efforts to sow divisions in U.S.
We all remember when Putin forced the Electoral College to vote for Trump right?
But now a story that is actually true. The American populace is so gullible/stupid they were duped by the Russians having some believe worthless thugs
like these two make it justified to disrespect our flag. And let's not forget the author of this article CNN and the rest of the MSM play a role in it too!
Tell me this wasn't a deliberate attempt to mislead.
Oh...and talk about "sow divisions in U.S." did you ever hear of BLM until Barry came around?
------------------------------
A Russian-linked Twitter account reportedly aimed at stoking racial tensions during the 2016 presidential campaign was handed over to Congress by the company this month, CNN reports.
The "Blacktivist" social media campaign frequently shared content on Facebook and Twitter aimed at creating racial outrage during last year's election.
The Facebook account is expected to be handed over to Congress in the comings days, according to CNN.
The campaign publicized various rallies, including a march in Baltimore commemorating the death of Freddie Gray, in order to increase turnout, the network reported.
The accounts also posted messages such as "black people should wake up as soon as possible" and "black families are divided and destroyed by mass incarceration and death of black men," according to CNN.
The campaign maintained a strong influence with its Facebook page likes outnumbering those of the official Black Lives Matter Facebook page, with 360,000 likes.
The report comes amid a slew of revelations about how Russian actors used social media to influence the 2016 presidential election.
Facebook revealed that roughly 470 Russian-linked accounts had purchased thousands of advertisements on the platform, some of which were aimed at stoking tension on social issues.
Twitter representatives on Thursday briefed staff from the House and Senate Intelligence committees on how Russian trolls and bots may have used the social media website to influence the 2016 election.
Ready for this?
In an attempt to con (what they must believe are stupid fans) the Green Bay Packers announced they want the fans to lock arms in solidarity with them!
That would be like me locking arms with Rachel Maddow and Rosie O'Donnell at the next Antifa incursion.
On a tip from Ed Kilbane
Perhaps you should read this. It's very enlightening. Especially for dumbasses like Kaepernick.
The National Anthem Protests -- Do Facts Matter?
Where was the angry left when Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg called the national anthem protests "dumb and disrespectful"?
Let's focus on the "dumb" part.
NFL player Colin Kaepernick, who started the protests, did so over the supposed widespread instances of police brutality against blacks. Kaepernick said, "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. ... There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder." According to the Centers for Disease Control, since 1968 police killings of blacks have declined nearly 75 percent. According to The Washington Post, almost 500 whites were killed by cops in 2015, an average of more than one a day. Two hundred fifty-nine blacks were killed by the police. Most suspects killed by police had a weapon.
Now for some perspective.
Do you know anyone who has been struck by lightning? Neither do most people. Yet each year an average of about 300 Americans are killed or injured by lightning. That's approximately 40 more than the number of blacks killed by the police in 2015. Is there an "epidemic" of Americans being struck and injured by lightning? We don't know the number of black men injured by lightning every year, but let's assume the number is 7 percent of the total people struck by lightning, mirroring the percentage of the black male population in America. That brings the average number of black men injured by lightning to about 21.
Out of the 965 people killed by the police in 2015 (as of Dec. 24), the Post reported (on Dec. 26) that "less than 4 percent" involved an unarmed black man and a white cop, the fact pattern most commonly referred to by anti-police activists like Black Lives Matter. Last year, The Washington Post put the number of unarmed black men killed by the police at 17, less than the number of blacks likely struck by lightning. Twenty-two unarmed whites were killed by the police. Any death that results from police misconduct is one death too many, but the point is that police killing of a suspect is rare, no matter the race of the suspect or the cop. And a police shooting of an unarmed black male is still more rare.
But blacks are routinely and disproportionately being stopped, pulled over and/or arrested due to police misconduct, right?
No, not according to numerous studies, many by the government. Take traffic stops. In 2013, the National Institute of Justice, the research and evaluation agency of the Department of Justice, published a study of whether the police, as a result of racial bias, stop blacks more than other drivers. The conclusion? Any racial disparity in traffic stops is due to "differences in offending" in addition to "differences in exposure to the police" and "differences in driving patterns."
According to Philippe Lemoine, writing in National Review, a white person is, on average, more likely to have interactions with the police in any year than a black person, 20.7 percent vs. 17.5 percent. It is true that a black person is more likely to have multiple contacts with the police. But according to the data, multiple contacts with the police are rare, as well. Lemoine writes that 1.2 percent of white men have more than three contacts with the police in a year versus 1.5 percent of black men.
But what about the experience of a black person with the police versus that of a white person? The DOJ's Bureau of Justice Statistics regularly studies this, too. Every year, the BJS surveys a representative sample of 70,000 people. Among the questions, the survey asks whether respondents had contact with the police in the last 12 months. If the answer is "yes," the survey asks a number of follow-up questions, including about use of force.
Let's concentrate on cases involving use of force.
Lemoine writes: "Only 0.6 percent of black men experience physical force by the police in any given year, while approximately 0.2 percent of white men do. ... Moreover, keep in mind that these tallies of police violence include violence that is legally justified." And keep in mind the much higher levels of crime by mostly black males. It is estimated that half of all homicides are committed by, and mostly against, black males.
In 1995, the federal government looked at 42,500 defendants in the nation's 75 largest counties. A government statistician, Patrick A. Langan, found "no evidence that, in the places where blacks in the United States have most of their contacts with the justice system, that system treats them more harshly than whites." So much for the so-called "institutional racism" in the criminal justice system.
Recently, in Illinois, in a kids' 8-and-under football league, the entire team, which appeared to be all black, including the coach, took a knee during the national anthem. Asked why, one third-grade player parroted Kaepernick, saying, according to the coach, "Because black people are getting killed, and nobody's going to jail."
Facts don't matter. The coach, presented with a teachable moment, fumbled it away.
A chip off the old block
It’s Official: ‘The View’ Adds Meghan McCain as 'Conservative' Co-Host
Meghan McCain has officially signed onto “The View” as a regular co-host, Variety has learned exclusively.
McCain’s hire comes just days after she left Fox News, and shortly after the ABC daytime show parted ways with Jedidiah Bila.
McCain is expected to start in early October, joining the panel of Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Paula Faris, and Sunny Hostin.
ABC declined to comment on McCain.
Insiders say “The View” nabbed McCain because the show needs a stronger conservative voice, which it has been lacking since Elisabeth Hasselbeck left in 2013 when the series was buzzier, frequently making headlines for in-show sparring between the co-hosts with different political views.
McCain — the daughter of U.S. Senator and 2008 presidential nominee John McCain — has described herself as a Republican with liberal views on several social issues.
Since creator Barbara Walters retired in May 2014, “The View” has been playing a game of musical chairs, enduring numerous talent changes. Sherri Shepherd departed a few months later and then Rosie O’Donnell returned for one season, which was followed by a slew of brief stints by Nicolle Wallace, Rosie Perez, Raven Symone, Michelle Collins, Candace Cameron Bure, and most recently, Bila.
In recent months, ratings for the “The View” have started to climb with the Trump presidency, which has fueled the show’s Hot Topics debates. The show is seeing its best numbers in three years, averaging 2.8 million viewers a day under the watch of senior executive producer Hilary Estey McLoughlin and executive producers Candi Carter and Brian Teta.
At Fox News, McCain was a contributor and served as one of the co-hosts on the afternoon program “Outnumbered.” Prior, she hosted a series, “TakePart Live,” on the now-defunct Pivot network, and she was also a contributor to MSNBC and The Daily Beast. She first garnered media attention in 2007 for blogging about her experiences on the campaign trail when her father was running for president.
